Job Description:
THIS IS AN ONSITE ROLE LOCATED IN SPOKANE, WA.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Manufacturing Engineer develops and improves manufacturing processes surrounding mechanical components or systems through a combination of direct and indirect methods. The Mfg. Engineer position ensures that design, installation and operation conform to Industry and Company standards and helps to develop stronger conformity to those standards in order to promote a Quality product.
The Manufacturing Engineer also develops or improves manufacturing processes through product research, facilitating interviews or improvement events, in turn the combined information is used to make appropriate recommendations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develops, evaluates and recommends manufacturing processes through designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from workers and working with the Engineering team.
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning the workflow, production documents, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Design or revise existing drawings using Solidworks; develop floor plans/ layouts using 2D software such as AutoCAD or Draftsight.
- Familiarity of Lean Manufacturing concepts such as Value-Added time, Waste, PDCA cycle and 5S.
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Promotes the transition of traditional Fabrication design philosophies to Mistake-Proofed, Self-Fixturing philosophy through facilitation of design review process and the gathering of user feedback, the solid model revision process and the prototype/ model validation.
- Engineers are service oriented and possesses high level of social nuance, interpersonal communication skills, work ethic and attitude; may be required to instruct several topics through various mediums such as video, Job Instruction Guideline sheets, In-person formal instruction.
- Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
- Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Familiar with Project Lifecycle and Project Management tools to organize and document information accordingly.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Becomes familiar with all company safety standards.
- Performs all commitments/tasks in a timely and professional manner.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as required.
Support Safety, Quality and Improvement
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning the workflow, production documents, space requirements, and equipment layout.
- Manufacturing Engineers may be required to facilitate and lead presentation or Safety, Quality or Improvement events including design review discussions
- Assures product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
- Actively supports Safety and Safety Culture, may be required to conduct interviews, investigations or otherwise support identifying safety process problems and eliminating them.
- Familiarity of Lean Manufacturing concepts such as Value, Waste, Mistake-Proofing/ Poka-Yoke’ and 5S with ability to apply CI tools to work environment.
- Conducts experiments, tests and inspections of products or processes to evaluate quality, performance or facilitate learning.

Education
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing/ Mfg. Tech or similar ABET certified degree.
Experience and Skills
- 3-5 years’ Manufacturing work experience and education or work experience with appropriate transferable skills (Critical Thinking, Strong Communication, Time Management and Troubleshooting).
- Strong self-efficacy with an ability to coordinate assignments of varying scope and detail, handle increased responsibility, and apply sound judgment within the scope of responsibility as required.
- Ability to solve complex problems and issues.
- Possesses a positive attitude towards all employees and creates positive working relationships.
- Strong interpersonal skills facilitating direct, concise written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate through thought and behavior an environment of participation, collaboration and engagement.

Employee Equipment
Employee will provide steel-toed boots.
Compensation: $80,000-90,000 (DOE)
