The Manager, Software QA and Testing is a management role, accountable for ensuring the effective planning, control, and coordination of the relevant test program.
This role ensures adherence to the test methodology and the quality of their direct line reports output through the application of management principles and test and quality assurance methodology.
The Manager, Software QA and Testing, manages a team of individuals to ensure effective service delivery and adherence to relevant operational requirements and takes responsibility for the quality of the software application/module and ensure continuous improvement process is followed.
This people management role fosters a collaborative and innovative team cultures focused on operational excellence.
- Works closely with internal clients and project team to ensure the translation of functional requirements into testable scenarios, test cases, and test plans and ensures execution against these enabling the delivery of a robust solution.
- Guides the development and design of test cases, ensuring test case coverage and ensuring the preparation of the test environment.
- Manages quality assurance and sign off the test plan and test cases and/or data prior to its execution.
- Ensures high-quality software releases and keeps abreast of current trends in software quality assurance and requirements analysis best practices.
- Guides research and suggests technologies to improve testing tools and development processes.
- Manages and coordinates the test plan and partners with the relevant stakeholders to allocate and schedule test resources.
- Manages the execution of the testing process and reviews the test progress and ensures that test results are analyzed and recorded.
- Manages the team operationally to ensure the best software releases.
- Fosters a collaborative and innovative team cultures focused on operational excellence.
- Advanced understanding of various testing methodologies for Unit, System, Integration, Functional, Regression, Performance and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) test principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently and productively.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to operationally lead and manage a team of specialists.
- Excellent client engagement skills coupled with the ability to conduct presentations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive in approach with have high levels of motivation, being a self-starter with good planning and organizing skills
- Methodical and analytical and they have good knowledge of project management principles.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field.
- Relevant certifications such as Leading SAFe would be advantageous.
- Solid line management and leadership experience.
- Advanced demonstrated experience working as part of quality assurance, test automation team.
- Advanced demonstrated experience working with the software development lifecycle.
- Advanced demonstrated experience working in an Agile team, using Agile principles and methods.
- Advanced demonstrated experience with software quality assurance, requirement analysis, and software design.
- Advanced demonstrated technical writing experience.
- Solid line manager experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
- Advanced demonstrated experience managing vendors (where outsourced teams are involved).
