The Manager, Recruitment & Employer Relations supports the strategic and operational delivery of Career Services, with primary responsibility for employer engagement and recruitment initiatives, career counseling for assigned students, and pro bono/community service program administration. The Manager identifies employer contacts, employment and experiential opportunities for students and alumni, and coordinates recruitment programs including On Campus Interviews and resume collections. The position also manages key functions of BarryConnect/12Twenty, supports career programming and employment outcomes reporting, job placement statistics and serves as a key operational partner to the Director of Career Services & Employer Relations.

Employer Relations, Recruitment, Opportunity Development & Social Media Engagement

  • Identify law firms, government agencies, courts, public interest organizations, corporations, alumni, and other employers to expand employment opportunities for students and alumni.
  • Research, identify, invite, and follow up with prospective employers to expand On Campus Interviewing, resume collections, job postings, career fairs, and other recruiting opportunities.
  • Market Barry Law students and alumni to employers in Central Florida and other strategic regional and national markets.
  • Create, maintain, audit, and expand employer contacts database and recruiting records in BarryConnect/12Twenty.
  • Support the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations with employer engagement, targeted outreach campaigns, and marketing materials that support recruitment and placement goals.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, create and manage social media content development and engagement for outlets such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Career Counseling & Student Professional Development

  • Provide individual and group career counseling to assigned students, with primary responsibility for second year (2L) students, regarding career exploration, job-search strategy, networking, professional development, and employment preparation.
  • Review resumes, cover letters, and other application materials; conduct mock interviews; and provide individualized feedback on interviewing, networking, and job-search techniques.
  • Develop short- and long-term action plans with students and provide appropriate follow-up and accountability.
  • Remain current on legal-market trends, recruiting practices, and applicable NALP guidance and translate relevant information into practical student advising.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations to ensure continuity of career advising across the student lifecycle and refer complex or specialized matters to the Director appropriate.

Pro Bono & Community Service Program Administration

  • Identify and maintain approved legal and community organizations database to expand pro bono, public service, and community service opportunities for students.
  • Maintain and routinely audit approved provider and opportunity databases and student-facing resource lists to ensure information is current, accurate, appropriately categorized, and accessible.
  • Research and develop new opportunities consistent with School of Law requirements and departmental priorities.
  • Coordinate updates with participating organizations and support student questions regarding available opportunities and established submission/approval processes.
  • Assist with pro bono and public interest programming, fairs, outreach initiatives, and related communications.

Recruitment Programs, Career Programming & Networking Events

  • Supports the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations with professionalism programs that support students and alumni with career planning and job-search efforts.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations to develop career-path, professionalism, and job-search programming for students and alumni, including private sector, public sector, judicial, public interest, and non-traditional career pathways.
  • Under the direction of the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, plan and execute On Campus Interviews, resume collection programs, career fairs, employer information sessions, panels, workshops, and networking events throughout the year.
  • Coordinate program logistics, communications, employer participation, student preparation, and post-event follow-up.
  • Evaluate programming and recruiting initiatives and recommend improvements based on participation, outcomes, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Identify off-campus and community-based networking opportunities that strengthen employer and alumni relationships.
  • Research and identify student professional development opportunities

BarryConnect/12Twenty & Career Services Systems Administration

  • Manage assigned daily functions of BarryConnect/12Twenty and serve as a departmental point of contact for system operations and vendor support.
  • Maintain job database and process employer registrations, job postings, on-campus interview sessions, resume collections, and related recruiting workflows.
  • Promote BarryConnect/12Twenty to students, alumni, and employers and support effective user adoption.
  • Remain current on platform features and changes; assist with staff training, documentation, data integrity, and continuous process improvement.
  • Support approved digital communications and project-management tools used by Career Services.

Data, Reporting & Employment Outcomes

  • Assist the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations with maintaining data integrity across Career Services systems and records.
  • Support employment outcomes reporting, including at-graduation and 9-month post-graduation surveys and related reconciliation activities.
  • Compile and analyze program, employer, student engagement, and placement data to inform departmental planning and continuous improvement.
  • In collaboration with the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, coordinate and review assigned work of student office assistants and/or student employees in support of Career Services priorities.
  • Maintain organized operational records, templates, Standard Operating Procedures, and shared departmental resources for assigned areas.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations in support of departmental and School of Law priorities.

Department Operations & Other Duties

  • In collaboration with the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations, coordinate and review assigned work of student office assistants and/or student employees in support of Career Services priorities.
  • Maintain organized operational records, templates, Standard Operating Procedures, and shared departmental resources for assigned areas.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director of Career Services and Employer Relations in support of departmental and School of Law priorities.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree Required – Field of study: Business Administration, Communications, Human Resources, Counseling, Legal Studies, or a closely related field. (Preferred)
  • Master's Degree - preferred Field of study: Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or another closely related field. (Preferred)
  • 3-5 years previous experience
  • Relevant experience in student affairs, career services, employer relations, recruiting/talent acquisition, workforce development, student professional development, higher education, legal recruiting, or a closely related field strongly preferred.
  • Previous advising, coaching, teaching, guidance, or counseling experience preferred. Previous higher education experience preferred. A J.D. is not required.
