Manager Procurement
Leading the team while managing your own procurement portfolio
Strong procurement requires clear direction and a manager who stays close to the work. As Manager Procurement, you will lead our Netherlands-based Procurement team, which supports Enza Zaden across the globe. You will also personally manage a procurement portfolio expected to include HR and IT-services.
Make a difference as Manager Procurement
As Manager Procurement, you will lead a team of five to six procurement professionals and report to the CFO. You will ensure consistent procurement, category management, and supplier management across Enza Zaden. With around €150 million in annual global non-direct seed-related spend, including facilities and equipment investments, the scope is broad and commercially relevant. Seed production contracts are outside this role and remain part of Seed Operations.
- Lead, organize, and develop the Procurement team, set priorities, allocate resources, and establish clear accountability;
- Maintain and improve procurement policies, procedures, and governance, and ensure that approvals and contracts follow authorization requirements;
- Set direction for category management and ensure category owners translate spend, supplier markets, risks, and business needs into effective approaches;
- Ensure key suppliers and contracts have clear ownership, performance measures, and regular reviews, and support the team in addressing performance issues;
- Personally manage an assigned procurement portfolio, expected to include HR and IT-services, from requirements and supplier selection through negotiation, contracting, renewals, and performance management;
- Work with senior and local managers, Legal, Finance, HR, I&D/Security, business partners, and category stakeholders across countries.
What you bring as our future colleague
You combine clear leadership with active involvement in procurement activities. You can balance multiple priorities, complex stakeholder interests, and commercial decisions without losing sight of governance and risk. You give direction, coach experienced professionals, and step into negotiations or supplier discussions when needed. In addition, you have:
- A master’s degree, or an equivalent level of working and thinking, in Business, Procurement, or a related field; a professional qualification such as NEVI is preferred;
- 9 to 12 years of relevant procurement experience, including experience as a people manager in an international environment;
- Strong tactical and strategic procurement, commercial, negotiation, category management, and stakeholder management skills;
- Proven experience with complex sourcing processes, supplier management, and contract lifecycle management, preferably including HR and/or IT-services;
- The ability to engage colleagues across countries, functions, and seniority levels, while turning business requirements into practical procurement decisions;
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English and willingness to travel occasionally.
