PharmaCann, Inc. owns and operates best-in-class production facilities and retail dispensaries for cannabis-based products. We currently operate in the States of Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Colorado and Michigan as a medical and/or adult use cannabis provider to patients and customers. We are looking for energetic, results-driven individuals to join our rapidly growing team and industry.

Purpose

Responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising irrigation/fertigation processes. This position provides active support while coordinating the operation and maintenance of the fertigation and irrigation systems. You will be expected to closely monitor farm health, diagnose nutrient and plant health issues, and perform various technical tasks related to the assigned area of responsibility.

The salary range is $55,000 to $70,000

Essential Duties

Irrigation and Strategy Management

  • Provide guidance and support for the entire crop cycle, evaluating all aspects of growth and production.
  • Interface with department managers to provide feedback on specific crop and plant health details.
  • Help coach, train, and enforce the proper use of irrigation tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate sampling for EC, pH, and alkalinity at regular intervals during all stages of growth.
  • Train staff on proper irrigation strategies.
  • Optimize plant performance by adjusting irrigation strategies.
  • Evaluation and refinement of irrigation strategies.

Supplies & System Management:

  • System maintenance and repair. 
  • Purchase and maintain supplies as needed (fertilizers, supplies, replacement and backup parts, etc).

Systems 

Provide leadership and guidance to departmental staff to ensure efficient use and management of systems, focusing on operational effectiveness, accessibility, security, and scalability.

Compliance and Reporting 

  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.  
  • Ensure all company policies (worker safety, MMED, etc.) are complied with.
  • Ensure that workflows and work procedures are documented, and appropriate controls and audits are in place to ensure data and processing integrity.

Leadership and Supervision 

  • Manage employees, including hiring, development, work assignments, performance appraisals, rewards, discipline, and complaint resolution. Provide technical leadership and managerial direction to designated employees.  
  • Establish initial and ongoing training for employees to ensure a thorough understanding of guidelines, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ensure that individual and team performance meets the Company’s standards of service and quality.
  • Work collaboratively with all the Company’s employees and business partners.
  • Provide effective leadership to ensure employees fully understand and align with the company’s vision, mission, and values to maintain a positive work environment and high morale.

Project Management 

  • Develop and manage projects, including defining project scope and resources, and achieving deliverables on time and within budget.
  • Meet with area managers daily to discuss projects, address issues or conflicts, and facilitate team communication to keep everyone informed.

Work Environment 

  • Adhere to all work safety requirements including, but not limited to: lifting, bending, and moving up and down ladders throughout shift. 
  • Perform regular cleaning and maintenance on work surfaces, tools, and related equipment to ensure the garden is well-maintained.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all areas in the garden. 
  • Maintain a positive attitude that creates a positive work environment. 
  • Keep doors closed when not in use. 
  • Wear protective clothing when working with plants. 
  • Before exiting the facility remove protective clothing and ensure that there is no cannabis on your personal clothing, shoes, or hair. 

Other Duties 

  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervision

  • Works under the direct supervision of the Sr. Manager of Production.
  • Receives direction from the Senior Manager of Production, Process Analyst, Controls Department,  and General Manager of Cultivation.
  • Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
  • Coordinate with and assist other department managers to facilitate production and optimize plant health.
  • This person supervises exempt and nonexempt employees.  

 

Job Qualifications

Work Experience

  • Two years or more of professional cannabis experience is preferred.
  • A minimum 2 years experience working in crop production in a climate-controlled space
  • Knowledge of/or experience with Argus Control Systems or a similar greenhouse controls platform, or relevant experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years previous management experience directing, training, and coordinating activities of staff.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying the health of plants and diagnosing problems (diseases, pests, and others) and can recognize and respond quickly to any issues of plant health or production.
  • Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Excel, Google Suite, and Smartsheets.
  • Experience with fertilizer injection systems.
  • Knowledge of plant nutrient formulation, assessment, and analysis.
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws relating to key areas of responsibility. 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or related field, three years of related industry experience, or an equivalent combination.

Working Conditions 

  • Able to use a computer for extended periods.
  • Able to move about a typical office, manufacturing, warehouse, or retail environment.
  • Able to perform general office managerial and administrative activities.
  • Able to lift and move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
  • Regular and on-time attendance.
  • Hours may exceed 40 hours per week.
  • Occasional travel by conventional means including aircraft, motor vehicle, and the like within the region and to other locations as required.
