About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Manager, Production Planning to lead the planning team responsible for our non-sterile compounded production. This position manages and develops the site's production planners and owns the forward-looking production plan. The plan converts demand forecasts and inventory policy into a rolling view of the next several weeks through the next year or more, tests that plan against labor, equipment, and material capacity, and identifies where the business cannot meet it. The Manager then drives the response to each gap, whether through training, labor, or capital investment, and hands the plan to Production Scheduling for on-site execution. The ideal candidate is a proactive people leader with a strong understanding of integrated planning systems, supply chain dynamics, and cross-functional collaboration across the operations planning team.
You Will:
Lead, manage, and develop the team of production planners, setting priorities, coaching, reviewing output, and ensuring consistent planning practices and coverage.
Own the development and maintenance of mid- and long-term production plans for non-sterile compounded products in alignment with demand forecasts and inventory policies.
Define the planning horizons, plan-of-record cadence, and frozen window, and publish the plan to Production Scheduling on a fixed schedule.
Manage finished goods inventory for compounded products within company guidance while maintaining click-to-deliver metrics for customers.
Develop what-if scenarios that identify where and when the plan exceeds available capacity, and which constraints are most sensitive to demand, product mix, batch size, and shift patterns.
Articulate and document all risks resulting from production capacity constraints, including volume at risk, timing, and effect on delivery and inventory. If the plan cannot be met, make or recommend revisions when plans cannot be met, and document the reason for each revision.
Recommend and size actions to close each gap, including training and cross-training for skill coverage, hiring and labor planning, overtime and shift design, equipment and facility investment, and outsourcing. Partner with Compounding Operations, HR, and Quality to carry out approved actions and track whether each one delivers the capacity it was sized to deliver.
Monitor plan attainment, forecast accuracy, and capacity utilization at the weekly and monthly level, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions.
Use actual cycle times, yields, and throughput reported by Production Scheduling to update planning standards and capacity model assumptions.
Collaborate cross-functionally across the operations planning team, partnering with demand planning to communicate forecast discrepancies and agree on the plan of record, with production scheduling to confirm the plan can be executed and take in the constraints it escalates, and with procurement and raw materials planning to confirm material availability.
Develop and maintain tools, dashboards, and KPIs that communicate plan status, constraints, risks, and performance to plan to leadership.
You Have:
8+ years experience in at least 1 of the following: Production planning, capacity planning, or resource planning, with demonstrated experience leading or developing others.
Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field required; APICS/CPIM certification a plus.
Experience building capacity models and presenting investment, staffing, or outsourcing recommendations to senior leaders.
Proficient in inventory management concepts with an understanding of the financial and operational implications of planning decisions.
Experience in pharmaceutical or pharmacy production/manufacturing environments is a plus.
Excel proficiency including experience with data manipulations – Lookups, PivotTables, External Data Connections.
Basic SQL and/or Python experience is a plus.
Deep knowledge of supply chain and manufacturing planning processes.
Strong analytical skills and comfort with data-driven decision making.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
Our Benefits (there are more but here are some highlights):
