Settlements Manager – Global Markets Operations
Role Purpose
The Settlements Manager is responsible for leading the end-to-end settlement, control and operational risk management activities across Fixed Income, Rates and Commodities products within Global Markets Operations. The role ensures the timely and accurate settlement of trades, effective management of reconciliation and funding obligations, strong risk and control outcomes, and delivery of operational excellence across domestic and international markets.
The role provides leadership for a team of settlement specialists and acts as a key point of contact for Front Office, Treasury, Finance, Technology, Risk and external market participants. While the primary product focus is Fixed Income, Rates, Repo, Commodities and Collateral activities, the role requires strong working knowledge of FX, Money Markets, Funding and Reconciliations to support broader operational priorities and team capability.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Settlement Associates and Senior Associates.
- Build a high-performance culture focused on risk management, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Drive capability uplift through training, succession planning and cross-skilling initiatives.
- Manage team performance, workforce planning and resource allocation.
- Promote employee engagement, wellbeing and inclusion.
Settlements & Funding Oversight
- Lead the end-to-end settlement and funding activities across Fixed Income, Repo, Rates and Commodities products.
- Ensure all settlement and funding obligations are met accurately and within market deadlines.
- Oversee daily liquidity and funding requirements across currencies, products and market infrastructures.
- Monitor funding positions and coordinate with Treasury, Correspondent Banks, Custodians and Clearing Houses to mitigate settlement and liquidity risk.
- Manage settlement failures, funding shortfalls and critical operational incidents.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex settlement and funding matters.
- Ensure effective support for market events, maturity profiles, coupon payments, rate fixings and client-driven funding requirements.
Risk & Controls
- Act as a key control owner within the operational risk framework.
- Maintain a strong first-line risk culture and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
