The Finance Consulting team helps develop our clients' finance functions so they can support the wider business more effectively. Some engagements focus on a specific, known issue, such as speeding up month end, improving the quality of management information, or training teams on business partnering. Others ask us to diagnose the root cause of a client's challenges, benchmark a finance function against its peers, or redesign a “future fit” finance function ahead of an exit or IPO. Whatever the brief, we work in close partnership with our clients, bringing insight, challenge and pragmatic support to prepare them for what's next.

A look into the role

As a Finance Consulting Manager, you will:

• Manage and lead projects, typically two at a time, . At times you will be the key lead for projects, liaising with a Director or Partner for guidance, challenge and  review; on others you'll work more closely with Associate Directors, Directors and Partners on larger, more complex client issues.
• Build your own internal and external network, growing your experience of opportunity generation as you progress towards Associate Director and beyond. You will naturally work closely internally with our wider Consulting and CFO Solutions teams but will also interact regularly with other service line teams
• Use empathy and listening skills to uncover the real root cause of client issues, and translate that into compelling propositions.

• Collaborate confidently across CFO Solutions, Consulting and the wider firm, bringing the right capability to clients regardless of departmental boundaries.

• Communicate confidently with senior client stakeholders, including CFOs, FDs and Private Equity House representatives, and manage the expectations of senior colleagues.

• Take real ownership of quality, compliance and risk matters.

• Contribute to practice development, whether through business development, external marketing, or improving our toolkit, working alongside senior colleagues while building your own niche over time.

• Take responsibility for managing engagement budgets and timelines.

Knowing you're right for us

Joining us as a Finance Consulting Manager, the minimum criteria you'll need are:

• A professional accountancy qualification (ACA, ICAS, CA, ACCA or CIPFA), with meaningful post-qualification experience and experience of a good range of finance function processes, technologies, pain points, and good practices..

• A proven track record of managing multiple senior stakeholders across concurrent client engagements.

• A strong commercial mindset, comfortable balancing client needs, engagement economics and risk.

It would be great if you also had some of the following, but don't worry if you don't tick every box. We'll help you develop along the way:

• A background in finance consulting, external audit, or line-finance roles in industry

• Proven experience in at least one of: month end and year end reporting; improving management reporting; process improvement; or finance system selection and implementation.

• Experience of finance change, process improvement, workshop facilitation, or transformation programmes.

• Ability to apply a structured, methodology-driven approach: identifying root cause, proposing the right response, and delivering the solution.

• Ability to influence senior stakeholders with genuine empathy.

• Experience leading teams and projects.
