Government & Infrastructure Advisory Manager, Transport

Public Services Advisory | Complex Projects & Transactions

About the role
The Complex Projects & Transactions team advises clients on the full lifecycle of complex projects across sectors including transport, energy and social infrastructure. This Manager role has a transport focus but may have opportunities to work across sectors. You will manage client engagements, support new business and proposal writing, and help run the business unit.

About the team
Public Services Advisory has worked on some of the largest and most high-profile infrastructure projects and public policy programmes both in the UK and overseas. Our transport team offers more than generic financial advice. We bring in-depth transport industry experience to help central government, other public authorities, and private sector providers get better value for money and manage risk. The team works both virtually and from Grant Thornton offices across the UK.

Key responsibilities

·       Deliver financial advisory services across complex projects and transactions

·       Manage allocated assignments in a client-facing role, meeting and exceeding client expectations

·       Own end-to-end delivery of client projects and programmes, with accountability for quality, timelines and financial targets

·       Support business development, including writing proposals and bids, from opportunity identification through to contracting

·       Delegate and coordinate the work of team members and support their development

·       Support management of the business unit, including pipeline and budgets

·       Act with integrity and in line with the firm's values

Minimum criteria

·       Experience in the transport sector, either in consultancy supporting government departments, public authorities or private sector entities, or working directly within one of such organisations

·       Experience in either programme management or major contracts procurement

·       Experience managing client engagements and stakeholders

·       Experience supervising or developing junior team members

·       Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable

·       Business case development, commercial structuring, or supporting bids for major infrastructure or operations contracts

·       A relevant professional qualification (for example MCIPS, or a recognised programme management qualification). Valued, not required
