Who We Are:
Cogent Biosciences is a publicly traded biotechnology company focused on developing novel precision therapies to treat a broad range of patients with unmet medical needs. Cogent’s lead program, bezuclastinib, is designed to selectively and potently inhibit exon 17 mutations found within the KIT receptor tyrosine kinase, including KIT D816V. KIT D816V is responsible for driving a rare and serious condition called Systemic Mastocytosis, and exon 17 mutations are also found in patients with gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), a type of cancer with strong dependence on oncogenic KIT signaling. Bezuclastinib has exhibited promising initial data across all three trials: APEX in AdvSM, SUMMIT in NonAdvSM and PEAK in GIST, including an encouraging safety profile across 600+ patients in single agent and combination dosing.
The Role:
The Manager, Communications and Investor Relations will play a critical role in supporting an integrated communications and investor relations strategy and will serve as a as the operational engine of the function. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Investor Relations, the Manager partners with Commercial & Marketing, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, People & Culture, and other internal functions as well as agency partners to ensure messaging is consistent across channels.
Responsibilities:
Internal and External Communications
- Partner with the Head of IR to develop and maintain the company's core messaging framework, ensuring consistency across external materials and internal stakeholders
- Assist in creating and maintaining a corporate calendar across functions
- Assist in drafting press releases across all corporate announcement types —, clinical data, regulatory updates, milestones, partnerships, and executive news—for Head of IR and legal review
- Maintain a library of clinical data communications precedents, peer company disclosure benchmarks, and key message archives
- Support internal communications with direction from People Team
Social Media & Digital Communications
- Execute the company's day-to-day social media presence across LinkedIn and other relevant platforms, including drafting posts, maintaining the content calendar, and scheduling content
- Monitor social media channels for relevant activity, competitive posts, and emerging conversations; prepare periodic reports
Investor Relations
- Coordinate logistics and support preparation of materials and details for key investor relations activities, including earnings reporting (conference call and webcast), bus tours, and healthcare conferences
- Support digital IR strategy, including maintenance of the IR website, investor-facing social media channels, and online financial data accuracy
- Coordinate investor inquiries and maintain investor contact databases, and other IR records
Qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Life Sciences, Marketing, or related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience at a publicly traded biotech/biopharma company in corporate communications, investor relations, science communications, or healthcare public relations; agency and/or in-house experience welcome
- Exceptional writing and editing skills across a range of formats, including press releases, social media content, briefing documents, executive messaging, website copy, and presentations; experience working with legal and medical/regulatory review processes for external communications content
- Collaborative working style; able to take direction while also working independently on execution and the ability to coordinate cross-functional workflows and manage competing deadlines
- Hands-on experience executing corporate social media programs, including content drafting, calendar management, Reg FD principles and cross-functional content coordination
- Working knowledge of the clinical development process and familiarity with how pipeline milestones, data readouts and commercial launches drive communications activity
- Experience supporting communications around medical conferences (e.g., AAAAI, ASH, ASCO, ESMO, or equivalent)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams, track and meet deadlines, and proactively identify and resolve issues
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office PowerPoint and Excel;
- Experience with IR analytics platforms (e.g., Nasdaq IR Insight, FactSet/Irwin, AlphaSense, etc.)
Salary Range:
$135,000 to $160,000 USD
