Job Description

The Manager, AI Search and Discovery role provides an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital search leader to build and lead a growing team responsible for delivering SEO, AI search, and digital discoverability services across Thermo Fisher Scientific.
 

As customer search behavior continues to evolve through AI-powered search experiences, large language models (LLMs), and conversational discovery platforms, maintaining discoverability has become an increasingly important component of Thermo Fisher Scientific's digital strategy.
 

The AI Search & Discovery’s shared services team has expanded to support this growing need and consists of a team of SEO and AI Search Specialists that provide SEO, AI search, and digital discoverability expertise and consulting to business groups and divisions across Thermo Fisher Scientific. As the function continues to mature and grow in both size and strategic importance, dedicated leadership is needed to establish priorities, ensure operational excellence, develop team capabilities, and scale best practices across the enterprise.
 

This role will lead the India-based shared services team, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, prioritization, and operational oversight while ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across a diverse portfolio of initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the AI Search and Discovery leadership team and cross-functional stakeholders to align business priorities, improve operational efficiency, and help scale the team's capabilities as search technologies continue to evolve.

DESCRIPTION

How you will make an impact:

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of SEO and AI Search Specialists through performance management, mentoring, career development, and regular feedback.
• Establish team priorities, balance workloads, allocate resources, and ensure successful execution across multiple business groups and strategic initiatives.
• Collaborate with divisional marketing teams and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of search initiatives.
• Monitor team performance, project delivery, and service quality while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
• Establish and maintain operational processes, documentation, governance, and best practices that enable the team to scale effectively.
• Support the team's adoption of evolving SEO, AI search, and digital discoverability capabilities through coaching, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning.
• Review search performance data, dashboards, and analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Guide development of content recommendations, optimization strategies, and AI-assisted search initiatives.
• Help remove obstacles, resolve escalations, and coordinate cross-functional activities that enable successful project delivery.
• Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and customer success.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve team processes, service delivery, and operational effectiveness.
• Stay current on emerging search technologies, AI-driven search trends, and evolving customer search behavior.
• Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned.
   

REQUIREMENTS

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Information Technology, Business, Digital Marketing, or a related field.
   

Experience:

• 12+ years of experience in digital marketing with at least 7+ years in SEO, digital search, content optimization, or related digital marketing disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience leading or managing teams, projects, or cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience working with large-scale, global enterprise websites and complex digital ecosystems.
• Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals, digital marketing, search optimization principles, and the evolving role of AI-powered search and large language models (LLMs) in customer discovery.
• Familiarity with AI-powered search experiences, generative search, and emerging digital discovery platforms, with the ability to guide the team as search technologies continue to evolve.
• Experience using enterprise search and analytics platforms such as Google Search Console, SEMrush, Adobe Analytics, Looker Studio, or similar tools.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and draw actionable insights to formulate marketing plans and make business decisions.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and drive initiatives across matrixed organizations.
• Strong organizational, communication, collaboration, influence, stakeholder management, and people leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional global teams and manage competing priorities.
• Prior experience in scientific industry and familiarity with target customer groups a plus.
   

Preferred Experience:

• Experience supporting shared services, centers of excellence, or global operations organizations.
• Life sciences, healthcare, diagnostics, biotechnology, scientific research, or B2B industry experience.
• Experience developing operational processes, team standards, and performance measurement frameworks.
• Experience leading process improvement, operational excellence, or organizational change initiatives.
