Managed Service Lead (Network Security)

Location: Hampshire (onsite 5 days per week)

DXC Technology is looking for an experienced technical team lead responsible for the DMZ Managed Service. Accountable for gateway and guard operations, segmentation controls and compliance with security boundary requirements; experienced with multi domain routing, CDS/guard patterns and high assurance boundary architectures.

This is a critical, site-based role responsible for ensuring the right skills are in place at the right time to meet client demand, working closely with account leadership, delivery teams, and recruitment.

The Role

Responsible for the operational management, governance, and assurance of all systems and controls that protect organisational perimeters and data exchange points. This includes oversight of secure gateways, firewalls, cross-domain solutions (CDS), data escalators and interface controls between security domains. The role ensures that boundary services are designed, implemented, and maintained in accordance with defence security standards, such as client policies, NCSC guidance, and Zero Trust principles, with a strong emphasis on risk reduction, resilience, and compliance.

Manages a multidisciplinary team of engineers and analysts, providing direction across service delivery, incident response, service improvement, and lifecycle management. Accountable for maintaining service availability and integrity while enforcing strict change control, configuration management, and accreditation processes. They act as the primary escalation point for boundary-related incidents, coordinating with security operations, cyber defence teams, and external partners to ensure rapid containment and remediation of threats, while maintaining full auditability and traceability required for defence environments.

Supports the evolution of boundary security capabilities in line with emerging threats, technology advancements, and defence digital transformation programmes.

This includes driving the adoption of Zero Trust Architecture, improving network segmentation, and implementing advanced monitoring and threat detection capabilities at ingress and egress points. The role also engages with architects, risk authorities, and accrediting bodies to ensure services align with target architectures and compliance frameworks, while continuously enhancing operational processes, staff capability, and service performance in a highly regulated and mission-critical environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the operational delivery, governance, and assurance of boundary security services.

  • Ensure the availability, resilience, performance, and compliance of all DMZ Managed service  security capabilities.

  • Manage and develop multidisciplinary teams of security engineers, analysts, and service specialists.

  • Act as the senior escalation point for boundary-related security incidents, coordinating response, recovery, and stakeholder communications.

  • Ensure effective implementation of change, configuration, release, and accreditation processes within regulated environments.

  • Maintain compliance with applicable security standards, accreditation requirements, client policies, and NCSC guidance.

  • Drive continual service improvement, operational efficiency, and service performance optimisation.

  • Collaborate with architects, cyber defence teams, risk authorities, accrediting bodies, suppliers, and customer stakeholders.

  • Support the adoption of Zero Trust principles, enhanced network segmentation, and advanced monitoring and threat detection capabilities.

  • Provide operational reporting, risk management, service assurance, and governance oversight to senior stakeholders.

What You'll Bring

  • Significant experience leading cyber security, network security, or boundary security managed services within enterprise, government, or defence environments.

  • Strong technical expertise in boundary security technologies, including firewalls, secure gateways, cross-domain solutions (CDS), guard technologies, and secure data transfer services.

  • Proven experience managing service delivery, operational risk, major incidents, change management, and continual service improvement.

  • Strong understanding of security governance, accreditation, assurance, compliance, and risk management frameworks.

  • Experience working within highly regulated, accredited, or mission-critical environments.

  • Demonstrable leadership capability, including building, developing, and motivating high-performing technical teams.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with engineers, architects, accrediting authorities, customers, and senior leadership.

  • Experience supporting security transformation initiatives, including Zero Trust, network segmentation, and security architecture modernisation.

Qualifications & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Typically, 7+ years of experience in cyber security, network security, or security managed service delivery, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong technical understanding of:

  • Enterprise firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Check Point, Fortinet, Cisco Firepower, or equivalent)

  • Secure gateway and proxy technologies

  • Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and secure information exchange technologies

  • Network segmentation and Zero Trust Architecture

  • Security monitoring, SIEM, logging, and threat detection capabilities

  • TCP/IP networking, routing, switching, DNS, and network security principles

  • Secure architecture and defence-in-depth design patterns

  • Experience operating and governing services within accredited defence, government, or highly regulated environments.

  • Working knowledge of client security policies, NCSC guidance, Cyber Essentials Plus, ISO 27001, and security assurance processes.

  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ITIL, PMP, CCNP Security, Palo Alto PCNSE, Check Point CCSE, Fortinet FCSS/NSE, or equivalent.

  • Security clearance (SC/DV) or eligibility to obtain clearance.
