Job Description

• Work in conjunction with the molding team to solve issues with automation, auxiliary and robotic equipment to reduce machine downtime. 

• Work unsupervised in maintaining equipment, tools, and work area. 

• Respond to production calls for assistance on automation, auxiliary and robotic related equipment. 

• Assist in the set-up / tuning of appropriate equipment following a mold change & optimize cycle time in conjunction with molding machine. 

• Perform a daily visual inspection of on-line and off-line equipment to detect malfunctions. 

• Perform repairs associated with the red tag program 

• Assist Automation Engineers and department management with project requests.  Active team member of PIT (Process Improvement Team). 

• Maintain cleanliness and functionality of tools and work area. 

• Maintain and enforce all company safety, environmental and department of health requirements. 

Authorities 

• LOTO certified 

• Arc Flash certified 

• JDE work order entry 

• Repair automation equipment encompassing electrical, mechanical, & pneumatic breakdowns. 

• Tune robotic applications as production needs arise. 

Qualifications 

• High School diploma / GED equivalent. 

• Knowledge of mechanical systems and proven ability to apply that knowledge. 

• Must possess electrical and pneumatic troubleshooting skills. 

• Knowledge of pc and plc based machine control systems. 

• Commitment to complete four year Berry Global maintenance mechanic apprenticeship program. 

• Able to work independently and with others. 

• Dependable and motivated 

• Ability to safely operate a forklift in high traffic, low clearance areas while not posing a safety risk to others. 

• Able to climb ladders safely. 

• Able to work overhead or in awkward positions on a frequent basis. 

• Ability to work safely on elevated surfaces. 

• Ability to lift 50 pounds; 20 pounds over shoulder height.  

• Able to stand/walk for long periods of time. 

• Hearing sufficient to recognize and respond to verbal warnings, alarms, and horns on forklifts. 

• Verbal communication adequate to use a radio and or paging system to contact other co-workers in the other areas of the complex. 

• Flexibility to stay over or come in early to meet department objectives.
