Industrial Maintenance Supervisor - Charter Casting, Woodstock, IL (Formerly Charter Dura-Bar)
Location: 1800 W Lake Shore Dr, Woodstock, IL 60098
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 1:30p - 10:30p
You know what happens when equipment goes down. We need someone who knows what to do next.
At Charter Casting, maintenance isn't just about fixing what's broken. It's about seeing problems before they happen, finding better ways to keep equipment running, and making sure the right people, parts, and resources are in place when they're needed.
At Charter Casting in Woodstock, IL, we're looking for someone who understands that.
Someone who can walk onto the production floor, understand what's happening, ask the right questions, and help get things moving. Someone who knows their way around industrial equipment but also knows how to work with people. And someone who isn't satisfied with fixing the same problem over and over again.
If that sounds like you, keep reading.
Here's where you'll make your mark.
Be the person who connects the dots. When equipment needs attention, you'll help figure out what needs to happen, who needs to be involved, and how to get it done. You'll work alongside maintenance, production, engineering, and outside vendors to keep priorities moving in the right direction.
Lead without needing to be the loudest person in the room. This role requires someone who can build trust, share knowledge, guide others, and bring people together to solve problems. You'll provide technical direction, support training, and help keep safety and quality at the center of the work.
Fix today's problems. Prevent tomorrow's. You'll help troubleshoot equipment issues, coordinate repairs, and strengthen our preventive maintenance efforts. We're looking for someone who asks "Why did this happen?" just as often as "How do we fix it?"
Make good equipment even better. See an opportunity to improve a process, change a layout, upgrade equipment, or reduce downtime? We want to hear it. You'll have the opportunity to recommend improvements and help bring them to life through equipment projects, installations, and modifications.
Keep the operation ready. From spare parts and maintenance supplies to vendor services and forklift maintenance, you'll help make sure our teams have what they need to do their jobs. That means staying organized, anticipating needs, and balancing competing priorities.
What makes someone successful here? We're looking for someone who brings the right combination of technical knowledge, and the ability to coach and mentor your team to get things done.
You'll need:
- An Associate's Degree or equivalent experience, along with at least 3 years of related experience in manufacturing.
- A solid understanding of industrial maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, and repair.
- The ability to read blueprints and schematics and understand how mechanical systems work.
- Experience with machine repair or rebuilds, hydraulics, welding, fabrication, or pipe fitting.
- The ability to work across departments, communicate clearly, and earn the trust of the people around you.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the confidence to make recommendations backed by facts.
- The initiative to take ownership of a challenge and follow it through.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
A few things that would make you stand out.
Experience leading a maintenance team, coaching and developing a high functioning team, managing maintenance costs, or coordinating major equipment and capital projects would be a plus.
We'd also value a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field, CMRP certification, experience with maintenance work order systems and spare parts inventory, or formal leadership training.
Why this role matters.
When maintenance is done well, the entire operation benefits.
Equipment runs. Production stays on track. Employees have the tools and support they need. And instead of spending every day reacting to the next breakdown, the team can focus on making things better.
That's the impact this role can have at Charter Casting.
If you're someone who enjoys the challenge of industrial manufacturing, takes pride in solving problems, and wants to have a real influence on how things get done, we'd like to meet you.
