Leidos is seeking a Linux Systems Engineer to support a mission-critical customer environment in Chantilly, VA. This position is ideal for a hands-on Linux administrator or systems engineer with experience supporting Linux servers in virtualized environments and maintaining system security and compliance requirements.
The successful candidate will support day-to-day system administration, engineering, configuration management, virtualization, and security operations across a multi-network environment.
Candidates must currently possess an active TS/SCI with the required Polygraph and be eligible for customer crossover.
Primary Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based systems and servers within a virtualized environment.
- Maintain the operational security posture of information systems and support day-to-day system security operations.
- Perform and support system vulnerability scans, security audits, remediation, and compliance activities.
- Implement and maintain system security configurations and requirements.
- Provide configuration management for information system hardware, software, firmware, and security components.
- Support system engineering activities, including planning, designing, analyzing, and improving hardware- and software-based system processes.
- Troubleshoot complex system and infrastructure issues and develop effective technical solutions.
- Support systems operating across multiple network environments.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, developers, technicians, analysts, and users to identify requirements and resolve technical issues.
- Investigate and document existing system architectures and configurations.
- Support operational systems in a dynamic mission environment.
Basic Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI with the required Polygraph.
- Bachelor's degree and approximately 4 years of relevant experience.
- At least four years of recent experience supporting systems engineering, system administration, system processes, and/or software development methodologies.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with Linux system administration and engineering.
- Experience maintaining the security posture of information systems, including system scans, security audits, and day-to-day security operations.
- Experience with configuration management of system hardware, software, firmware, and security components.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical problems.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary technical team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Experience implementing or maintaining DISA STIGs or similar system-hardening/security-compliance requirements.
- Experience with virtualization and container technologies such as VMware, Red Hat Virtualization, and Docker.
- Experience configuring, deploying, or maintaining Identity and Access Management (IdAM), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and PKI-enabled systems.
- Experience translating user and developer use cases into technical system requirements.
- Experience documenting existing system architectures.
- Experience supporting operational mission systems.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
