Job Description
The purpose of this role is under supervision and the guidance of more experienced, seasoned and mandated Legal professionals to provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal services and support to a business area (the organisation, segment, business unit, functional area or legal entity) on legal matters of the business area.The Legal Adviser is responsible for drafting and vetting of contracts or other legal documentation from inception and providing well-reasoned, well-researched and sound legal advice under the supervision of more experienced Legal Advisers and a Legal Head.
- Hyphen Technology | Legal, Risk & Compliance
- Hyphen is seeking a motivated and commercially minded Junior Legal Advisor to join its Legal & Compliance function.This role is ideally suited to a candidate who is:
- Awaiting admission as an attorney; or
- Admitted for up to 2 years post-admission experience.
- The successful candidate will work closely with the Legal Manager across a broad range of legal, regulatory, commercial, and governance matters within the financial services and payments environment.This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious legal professional seeking exposure to fintech, payments, financial services regulation, commercial contracting, litigation management, product commercialisation, and corporate governance.The role offers significant learning and development opportunities, with the expectation that the successful candidate will progressively build the knowledge and confidence required to operate with increasing independence.
- Key Responsibilities:
- The successful candidate will support the Legal Manager in:
- Commercial Contracting
- Drafting, reviewing, interpreting and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Reviewing supplier, client, service provider, technology and confidentiality agreements.
- Managing the contract lifecycle process from initiation through execution and record management.
- Identifying legal and commercial risks within agreements and proposing practical solutions.
- Legal Advisory
- Conducting legal research and analysis.
- Drafting legal opinions, memoranda and advisory notes.
- Providing practical legal guidance to business stakeholders.
- Advising on legal risks associated with products, projects and operational initiatives.
- Dispute Resolution and Litigation Management
- Coordinating and managing disputes involving the company.
- Liaising with and managing external legal counsel.
- Assisting with implementing litigation strategy and matter management.
- Reviewing pleadings, legal correspondence and settlement proposals.
- Regulatory and Financial Services Support
- Providing support on legal and regulatory matters relating to financial services, payments sector, data privacy, technology services and other related commercialisation initiatives.
- Assisting with the interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements.
- Governance and Legal Operations
- Maintaining legal matter registers and trackers.
- Managing legal repositories and contract databases.
- Supporting governance and committee reporting.
- Coordinating contract execution and administration processes.
- Minimum RequirementsQualifications
- LLB degree.
- Awaiting admission as an Attorney or admitted Attorney with up to 2 years post-admission experience.
- Experience
- Exposure to commercial law through articles, in-house legal experience, or legal practice.
- Experience drafting, reviewing or negotiating agreements.
- Experience conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions or legal memoranda.
