U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to advance our digital transformation. As the fourth-largest bank in the United States, we are known for integrity, innovation, and ethical leadership. We are seeking a Senior software engineer with deep expertise in modern software and cloud solutions, a passion for leveraging AI technologies, and proven experience within the banking sector, particularly in KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) compliance. Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will demonstrate significant expertise in Java and the Spring Boot framework, architecting modern, cloud-native applications. The ideal candidate will lead the analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of enterprise-grade software systems deployed on public cloud platforms, including AWS and Azure. Familiarity with AI and machine learning technologies, advanced UI development using ReactJS, and hands-on banking domain experience—especially KYC/AML solutions—is highly sought. This role requires a commitment to technical excellence, team collaboration, and continuously integrating emerging technologies such as AI within our products and infrastructure.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of robust, scalable, and high-performing software solutions using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement cloud-native enterprise applications on AWS and Azure, utilizing best practices in microservices and domain-driven design.
• Integrate AI and machine learning technologies to enhance product functionality and customer experience.
• Deliver comprehensive full stack solutions, including modern UI development with ReactJS.
• Set and enforce best practices in code quality, documentation, and technical design, with an emphasis on scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing and technical growth across teams.
• Champion compliance, security, and DevOps standards throughout the development lifecycle, leveraging tools such as Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Design and implement secure solutions aligned with banking regulations and KYC/AML compliance standards.
• Continuously evaluate and integrate emerging cloud and AI technologies to advance the organization’s technology vision.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 10 years of progressive, hands-on experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on Java and Spring Boot, as well as API development, application design, and cloud deployment.

Preferred Experience and Technical Expertise

• 8+ years leading and architecting highly available, mission-critical Java enterprise applications using Spring Core, Spring MVC, Spring Boot, and related technologies; proven experience with Kafka, GraphQL, web services, and both relational and NoSQL databases (Cassandra).
• 8+ years designing and implementing API-first strategies, leveraging Domain Driven Design and microservices architecture for scalable enterprise solutions.
• 5+ Hands-on experience in cloud-native application development, including migration, modernization, and optimization for AWS and Azure platforms.
• Modern UI development expertise using ReactJS or similar frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of security, logging, and monitoring practices for large-scale cloud solutions.
• Experience integrating AI technologies and machine learning services to innovate and optimize business solutions.
• Extensive experience in DevOps environments on-premises and in the public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), including Git/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Strong background in banking domain, including the design and development of KYC and AML solutions, and compliance with financial regulations.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional technical vision and mentor engineering talent.

Additional Skills (Highly Desirable)

• Familiarity with rule engines such as Drools.
• Proficiency in .Net C# environments.
  
  Location expectations 
  This role requires working from a U.S. Bank Chennai location three (3) or more days per week.
