Introduction
As a Lead Software Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the technology that powers Levi Strauss & Co. consumer digital experiences, including Order Management platforms. You will work within a “you build it, you run it” environment, owning solutions from design through production support while leveraging AI-enabled engineering practices to accelerate delivery. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams and help shape scalable, resilient platforms that serve consumers globally.
About the Job
- Design, develop, and operate scalable domain services, APIs, and event-driven solutions that support high-volume digital commerce experiences.
- Own systems end-to-end, including deployment, observability, production support, on-call responsibilities, incident response, and continuous reliability improvements.
- Leverage AI-powered development tools to accelerate solution design, implementation, testing, documentation, and engineering productivity while ensuring accuracy, security, and quality.
- Build secure, resilient, and maintainable software by applying modern engineering practices including automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and progressive delivery techniques.
- Collaborate across product, engineering, and business teams while mentoring engineers and driving best practices that improve platform performance and customer experience.
About You
- 7+ years of professional software engineering experience building and supporting production systems in cloud-based or high-traffic digital environments, with at least 3 years on Order Management Systems (OMS).
- Demonstrated experience owning applications through the full software lifecycle, including production support, incident management, and operational excellence.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language and experience developing APIs, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, infrastructure as code, containerization technologies, and observability practices.
- Practical experience using AI development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies to improve software engineering outcomes.
- Experience with event-driven and message-based integration (Pub/Sub, Kafka).
- Hands-on experience with best-in-class Order Management platforms (home-grown or off-the-shelf such as Manhattan Active Omni or IBM Sterling Commerce) including extensions, configuration and integrations.
- Deep understanding of omnichannel retail flows: order capture, promising, allocation, fulfillment, invoicing, returns and customer service.
