BIDS Trading is an institutional network and broker/dealer that provides software to help asset managers trade large blocks of liquidity. BIDS Trading operates one of the world's largest equity block trading systems, with venues across the U.S., Europe, and Canada, and its flagship workstation, BIDS Trader, delivers block trading opportunities to hundreds of the world's largest asset managers.
As Lead Engineer, Quality Assurance, you will own quality across the full BIDS platform: the BIDS Trader workstation, the core matching engine and the back-end services behind it, and the FIX connectivity that links us to clients and venues. You will work alongside developers, product managers and business stakeholders in New York and Calgary to raise test coverage, sharpen our automation and give the team confidence to release quickly. This is a hands-on individual contributor role on a team that is measured on the reliability of systems our clients trade through every day.
Responsibilities
- Validate FIX connectivity and client onboarding flows, testing order entry, execution reports and drop-copy behavior against client and venue specifications.
- Define the test approach for new features, working with development and product from requirements through to release.
- Execute and evolve functional, regression and end-to-end integration testing, including performance and resilience scenarios against the trading engine.
- Build test harnesses, test data and environment tooling that widen coverage and shorten feedback loops for the whole team.
- Integrate automated suites into CI pipelines and keep them fast and stable.
- Investigate defects through to root cause, with clear reproduction steps, and partner with developers on the fix and its verification.
- Contribute to release readiness reviews and verify behavior in production following deployments.
- Challenge yourself and the team on quality practices, and champion continuous improvement in how we test.
Minimum Qualifications
- Five to 10 years of experience in software quality assurance or test engineering, with a track record on complex, transactional or real-time systems.
- Demonstrated ability to design and maintain manual and automated test suites, not only to execute them.
- Experience owning test strategy and test plans across functional, regression and integration testing in an Agile delivery environment.
- Experience with source control and continuous integration tooling such as Git, TeamCity and Jira.
- Excellent analytical skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively within a cross-functional team.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, software systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with automation tooling — for example Selenium or Playwright for UI, JUnit or TestNG as a test framework, Cucumber for behavior-driven scenarios, and REST Assured or Postman for API testing.
- Exposure to Java, sufficient to read application code, write test code and debug failures alongside developers.
- Working knowledge of SQL for building test data and validating outcomes directly against the database.
- Comfort on the Linux command line, with some shell or Bash scripting to automate test setup, log analysis and routine tasks.
- Background in financial markets, particularly equities trading, execution or order management systems, or familiarity with the FIX protocol.
- Exposure to testing trading systems, matching engines or other latency-sensitive platforms.
- Familiarity with Docker containers and applications running in AWS.

Salary Ranges (applicable for US locations only)
At Cboe, we are committed to providing a competitive, transparent, and market‑informed total rewards program. The anticipated base salary range for this role is $159,375-$206,250, with actual compensation determined by job‑related factors such as skills, relevant experience, education, internal alignment, and location.
This role may also be eligible for annual incentive compensation and, where applicable, participation in Cboe's long-term equity programs.
