Position Summary

The Lead Director, Corporate Communications will support the business objectives of the Chief Pharmacy Officer and Head of Specialty Operations by helping to develop and lead the execution of a communications strategy that advances key business and enterprise priorities. This role will drive communications in support of CVS Specialty’s business objectives while also leading executive communications, thought leadership opportunities, and content development that strengthen the voice and visibility of the Chief Pharmacy Officer across internal and external channels.

The Lead Director will help shape communications that advocate for the evolving role of the pharmacist and advance the practice of pharmacy in alignment with the education and training of these professionals. In addition, this role will support communications strategy and execution for CVS Specialty, helping translate business priorities into clear, compelling messaging that underscores key differentiators of the business, including its focus on simplifying the patient experience, optimizing clinical outcomes through expert care and personalized support, and improving experiences through market-leading innovation and technology.

This role requires a highly skilled communications leader who can counsel senior executives, translate complex healthcare and business issues into clear and compelling messaging, and operate effectively across a broad range of stakeholders and platforms. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing priorities, continually rebalancing based on business needs, managing several projects simultaneously, and operating effectively in a complex, matrixed organization.

Key Responsibilities

Support development and lead execution of communications strategies to advance the objectives of the Chief Pharmacy Officer as well as CVS Specialty business priorities.

Create and oversee content and tactics to advance these strategies across multiple channels, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with business and enterprise objectives.

Identify and advance thought leadership opportunities to proactively advance key messages. Translate complex topics into clear, compelling messaging for internal and external audiences.

Provide strategic executive communications counsel and support, including messaging, speeches, talking points, presentations, written remarks, and leadership positioning.

Partner closely with internal stakeholders across the Office of the CPO, CVS Specialty, enterprise communications, government affairs, external affairs, social media, and other cross-functional teams to ensure coordinated strategies and execution in support of business, executive, and enterprise priorities.

Anticipate emerging issues and help shape proactive communications plans that support business priorities, enterprise reputation, and executive visibility.

Ensure communications are tailored appropriately for varied audiences, including internal leaders, external partners, professional communities, academic institutions, and other key stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, executive communications, public affairs, or a related field
• Demonstrated success developing high-impact executive communications and business-focused communications strategies
• Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to adapt voice and content across multiple channels and audiences
• Strong executive presence, sound judgment, and experience counseling senior leaders
• Experience managing sensitive issues with discretion and strong strategic instincts
• Proven ability to synthesize complex topics into clear, compelling, and audience-appropriate communications
• Strong collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across a matrixed organization
• Strong project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple fast-moving priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, health policy, or other highly regulated environments
• Familiarity with the pharmacy profession, workforce trends, specialty pharmacy, and the broader healthcare landscape
• Experience supporting thought leadership, external positioning, reputation-building initiatives, and business communications strategy

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$100,000.00 - $231,540.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
