What can you expect?

Marsh Risk is the insurance broking and risk management business of Marsh, a global professional services firm headquartered in New York. Marsh Risk Tech is seeking to appoint a hands-on, delivery-oriented Lead Agentic Engineer to work directly with the business to prototype, shape, and deliver strategic technology initiatives. This is a business-facing, high-autonomy role within the Marsh Risk Product Development & Engineering team, based in the Marsh Innovation Centre in Dublin.

The Agentic Engineer combines solution design, full-stack engineering, workflow automation, and AI-enabled delivery. You will work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, identify opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions, and progress successful concepts into production. You will also investigate external integration opportunities, assess third-party tools and platforms, and determine practical approaches to connecting business systems, APIs, workflow engines, and vendor services into robust, supportable solutions. The role requires a balance of strategic thinking, technical depth, and hands-on delivery, helping the business translate ideas into working software efficiently and responsibly.

We will count on you to:

• Partner with business, product, and operational stakeholders to understand needs, shape requirements, and define pragmatic solution options.
• Design end-to-end solutions aligned to business objectives, architectural standards, security requirements, reliability needs, and operational constraints.
• Build prototypes, MVPs, and production-ready software across the stack.
• Investigate external integration options, including third-party platforms, APIs, vendor capabilities, enterprise systems, and workflow engines.
• Assess technical feasibility, security considerations, data flow, supportability, and operational impact of integration approaches.
• Work through non-standard integration challenges that require independent investigation, experimentation, and engineering judgement.
• Use AI-enabled tools to improve speed, quality, consistency, and engineering productivity.
• Support teams adopting AI-assisted delivery approaches through practical guidance, patterns, and guardrails.
• Collaborate across development, product, business, security, data, and platform teams to move ideas from discovery to delivery.
• Make sound technical decisions in ambiguous environments, balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and risk.
• Contribute to technical direction through hands-on problem solving and solution shaping.

What you will need to have:

• Strong hands-on experience in full-stack software engineering and solution design.
• Proven ability to work directly with business stakeholders to translate needs into working solutions.
• Experience delivering complex software end to end, from discovery through production.
• Strong proficiency with AI-enabled development and productivity tools.
• Comfortable working across modern full-stack technologies such as the MERN stack or equivalent, including React, Node.js, Express, and MongoDB.
• Experience with Camunda or similar workflow/process orchestration platforms.
• Comfortable with backend services in Python, Node, or Java.
• Practical experience embedding AI/LLMs into the SDLC, including prompt engineering, LLM-assisted development, automated testing, and model CI/CD.
• Experience with relational databases such as Postgres, key-value/NoSQL stores such as Mongo, and basic ETL and schema management.
• Proven ability to investigate external integration opportunities and design practical integration approaches with third-party systems, APIs, enterprise platforms, and workflow engines.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of ownership and autonomy.
