As our new Mining/Process Engineering Co-op Student you will support cross-disciplinary projects spanning mining, backfill, geotechnical, and process plant design. This role is ideal for students looking to gain hands-on exposure to real-world mining projects while working closely with experienced engineers.
This position offers a strong learning environment with mentorship from senior engineers, practical experience applicable toward future EIT requirements, and a clear view of how mining, process, and infrastructure disciplines integrate to deliver successful projects.
Location: Sudbury, ON
Your responsibilities may include:
- Support mining and backfill engineers with underground layouts, backfill concepts, and supporting calculations under supervision
- Assist with laboratory testing programs for tailings, backfill materials, and aggregates, including sample handling, test execution, and results tracking
- Assist with bridge mining and processing plant scopes by assisting with equipment lists, basic mass balance inputs, and layout coordination
- Participate in site visits and field investigations related to mining, backfill, and materials handling infrastructure
- Prepare and maintain spreadsheets, preliminary layouts, and design markups following established engineering procedures
- Support project delivery through document control, meeting coordination, and task tracking across multidisciplinary teams
- Learn mining designs interface with process plants, tailings management, and backfill distribution systems
Qualifications
- Third- or Fourth-year Student Enrolled in Mining or Mineral Processing or Chemical or Geotechnical Engineering or related program
- Knowledge of engineering principles with Mining Operations exposure would be an asset
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) is required
- Proficiency in Mining specific software and applications is desirable
- Strong Health & Safety values
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, including being to adapt to conditions/resources following the guidance of more experienced personnel
- Valid driver’s license required for travel to job sites.
