Position Summary:

The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS) seeks a highly skilled administrative professional to provide advanced technical support and customer service to faculty, staff, and students. This role serves as a key point of contact for IT Service delivery, combining technical expertise with strong communication, coordination and organizational skills. This position supports endpoint computing, classroom technologies, and network connectivity while ensuring a high level of user satisfaction and adherence to university standards.

Essential Duties:

• Provide first-level technical assistance and troubleshooting for Windows, MacOS, and Linux operating systems, including resolving software, printing, and peripheral issues, and documenting all incidents in the helpdesk ticketing system until resolution.
• Install, configure, and upgrade computers and peripherals by following departmental protocols, including use of Microsoft System Center tools, installing operating system updates, and maintaining accurate hardware inventory records.
• Perform diagnostics to isolate and resolve network issues involving computers, wired connections, wireless connectivity, and VPN access, coordinating with university network experts when needed. Ensure proper operation of campus network resources by activating network jacks, verifying connectivity, and assisting users with secure gateway (VPN) use.
• Provide first-tier audiovisual (A/V) support for classrooms, meetings, and presentations. Assist with setup and troubleshooting of A/V equipment.
• Educate users through direct interaction and the creation of documentation on services, printers, email systems, antivirus tools, spam filtering, and other commonly used technologies.
• Collaborate with external vendors and internal stakeholders to support, maintain, and troubleshoot complex instrumentation and specialized software systems across hospital and laboratory environments. Requires a high level of technical expertise to ensure system reliability, regulatory compliance and minimal disruption to clinical and research operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to safely lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds and perform all assigned duties in compliance with established local safety measures, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Supervision:

No formal supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum Education:
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in a field of study related to the work assignment AND one year of experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job.
• Minimum Experience:
  • Two years of experience as defined by the department will substitute for each year of required education.

SUBSTITUTIONS: A bachelor’s, master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study related to the work assignment will substitute for the associate’s degree and, at the agency’s discretion, the year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• IT Helpdesk experience in an education/teaching environment,
• Four years of Windows and Apple operating system support experience,
• Experience with Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications,
• Experience with A/V support,
• Excellent communication and customer service skills,
