Job Description:

The ISG Capital Markets New Issue team is responsible for the origination, marketing, distribution, and ongoing product management of new issue capital markets solutions within Merrill and is looking for an experienced financial professional with the requisite knowledge and skill set aligned to the team’s remit.  The successful candidate will be well-rounded and possess strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills. Prior experience with the origination and marketing of capital markets solutions is preferred, and the candidate should have a strong grasp of global economies, macroeconomics, and financial markets.

 

Responsibilities:

Key tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Play a key role supporting origination, opportunity evaluation, and deal execution, working on a broad scope of assignments and products intended for GWIM client distribution.
• Participates in the appropriate GCIB Capital Commitments Committee to review and approve the transaction, with a focus on evaluating and challenging due diligence performed by GCIB bankers.
• Ensures diligence issues are adequately disclosed, and escalated as necessary to the business head/control partners.
• Coordinate with GCM/GCIB Legal to ensure that the firm is receiving appropriate documentation in connection with an offering (10b-5 opinions, comfort letters, officer’s certificates, etc.)
• Ensures the issuer is compliant with bank policies (e.g., AML, USA Patriot Act, OFAC sanctions, etc.)
• Ensures, in conjunction with GWIM LOB, that offerings are compliant with all GWIM structural and offering guidelines.
• Participate in GWIM PMIC for review and approval of the transaction for GWIM distribution, as necessary, with a focus on ensuring clean diligence and documentation.

 

Required qualifications:

• 12+ years of financial industry and relative working experience
• Extensive legal knowledge of and/or experience in investment banking required; full breadth of financing experience (equity, equity-linked, debt) preferred

 

 

Desired qualifications:

• J.D. or Master’s degree in Economics/Business Administration/Finance, preferred but not required.
• Experience with evaluating valuation models, including comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis, and discounted cash flow analysis.
• Thoroughly versed in evaluating accounting, financial, and business due diligence.
• Professional maturity and experience to interact directly with senior GCIB and GWIM colleagues.
• Strong quantitative/analytical skills.
• Strategic and creative thinking; distinguished written and oral communications skills.
• Ability to manage several projects at once and work effectively as an individual and as part of a team.
• SIE and Series 7, 66 (or 63/65), and 79 preferred at time of hire, or must be able to obtain within 120 days of start date

Pay range

$225,000.00 - $375,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
