Shape the Future of Digital Twin Technology at ZEISS
At ZEISS Corporate Research, we explore technologies that shape future ZEISS products. We are looking for a motivated student passionate about software engineering, C++, automation, and intelligent developer tools to help build the software foundation of an in-house digital twin platform.
Your Role

- Develop robust, reusable software components in modern C++
- Design APIs, interfaces, and software architecture
- Build and maintain workflows (build, packaging, deployment) and improve CI/CD with GitHub Enterprise/Actions
- Implement automated tests (unit, integration, system) and maintain Python wheels/bindings for C++ libraries
- Automate documentation generation/publication and explore agentic workflows for software development, testing, documentation, and productivity
- Collaborate with researchers and engineers to integrate software into ongoing projects, document architectural decisions, and present your work
Your Profile
- Enrolled in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related program
- Strong programming skills in modern C++
- Good understanding of software engineering, modular design, and architecture
- Interest in testing, CI/CD, code quality, and developer tooling
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative software development
- Interest in AI-assisted development or agentic systems
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Good English communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with unit/integration testing and CMake/C++ packaging
- Familiarity with Python bindings or wheels from C++
- Knowledge of documentation/deployment/release automation
- Some exposure to GPU tech (Vulkan/CUDA) or game engine programming
