The Internal Communications Manager – Channels and Engagement leads the:
- Strategy and management of internal communications channels, ensuring colleagues can easily discover, understand, and act on information that supports the organisation’s strategy, culture, and employee experience.
- AI-enabled evolution of our internal communications channels and content workflows.
- Insight and measurement of the internal communications activity. Using data to improve communications effectiveness and engagement.
Since IC is within the HR function, the Internal Communications Manager – Channels and Engagement, will be deeply connected to Quilter’s people strategy and will constantly look for opportunities to build connection and create alignment across the function.
Key Responsibilities
1. Channel Management & Evolution
- Lead the management and ongoing development of Quilter’s internal communications channels to strengthen workforce engagement.
- Continue to evolve Quilter’s channels to maximise modern AI and tech opportunities to increase productivity and communications effectiveness.
- Implement channel and content improvements on time and within budget, bringing new thinking to improve how colleagues’ access and act on information.
- Own the measurement of internal communications activity, producing regular reporting and insight-driven recommendations.
2. AI enabled
- To continually improve the employee experience.
- Understand, test and develop better ways of communicating with AI to drive the internal communications team’s productivity, quality and creativity and innovation.
- Understand AI best practice in IC and apply it internally.
3. Communications Delivery
- Play a central role in delivering high-profile communication moments, including Quilter Conferences and Financial Results.
- Oversee publication of regular communication outputs such as fortnightly Quilter in Brief, regular cadence of leadership messaging, and business-as-usual updates.
4. Content Quality
- Ensure that the content of our channels fully aligns with our strategic priorities and outstanding quality standards, working closely with the Internal Communications Business Partners (BPs). Continually drive the bar upwards.
5. Communications Data Management
- Lead and advise on data-driven targeting to better target content.
- Own and interrogate our data to improve our communications to target audiences to drive better engagement.
- Responsible for generating actionable insight into colleague engagement, identifying what content, channels and formats are most effective, tracking long-term trends, and using data to inform and continually refine our content and channel strategies.
6. Support the Internal Communications Business Partners and Head of Internal Communications
A hybrid full-time role, which is office-based in Southampton (possibly London) for a minimum of two to three days a week. The channel and engagement manager is part of a busy, professional and supportive internal communication team.
About You
Expertise in:
- Channel Strategy, Management and Delivery: running multiple communication channels, including planning, scheduling, maintaining exemplary quality standards and continually evolving them. Managing a SharePoint intranet, updating it and using it to effectively engage colleagues. Comfortable working with IT teams.
- AI: AI enabling workflows, using AI to improve the effectiveness of internal communication and team productivity
- Engagement Measurement and Reporting: relevant experience embedding best practice in how we capture, analyse and report on communications and engagement data.
- Programme and Project Management: Ability to run end‑to‑end reviews of communication channels, coordinate recommendations, and ensure timely, on‑budget delivery. Capability to organise recurring communication cycles (e.g., quarterly surveys) with rigour and consistency.
Proven Track record in:
- Content Management: Excellent writer with forensic attention to detail to ensure that communications content is of a consistently high quality and aligned to the strategic priorities of the business.
- Delivering high‑profile Communication Touchpoints (e.g., conferences, financial results) and regular organisational updates.
- Employee Experience Insight: Understanding of what drives a positive employee experience and how communications contribute to culture and engagement. Ability to identify and implement improvements to support people strategy.
- Stakeholder Management and Engagement: Communication skills - confident communicator able to influence leaders/team members and partner with teams across the organisation. Calm under pressure, proactive and well organised. Juggling multiple priorities and shifting agendas.
