Job Summary
The CNC Intern supports the Manufacturing team by assisting with the production of precision-machined components used in Crystal Group’s rugged computing products. This position provides hands-on experience with CNC machining, blueprint reading, measuring tools, quality inspections, and general manufacturing processes. Under the guidance of experienced team members, the intern will complete assigned tasks and projects while following safety and quality standards.
Essential Functions
Assist with basic CNC machine operations under the direction of an experienced operator.
Load and unload materials and completed parts.
Learn to read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and job specifications.
Assist with inspecting parts using calipers, micrometers, and other measuring tools.
Monitor parts for quality and report defects or concerns to the appropriate team member.
Complete basic production documentation accurately.
Help maintain tooling, materials, and supplies used in the machining area.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
Participate in assigned department projects and training activities.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Interest in CNC machining, manufacturing, or a related technical field.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Dependable, organized, and committed to safe work practices.
Basic computer skills.
Required Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a high school, vocational, community college, or technical program related to CNC machining, advanced manufacturing, industrial technology, or a similar field.
Working Conditions
Work is primarily performed in a manufacturing environment with consistent exposure to the manufacturing floor and testing environments. May require lifting up to 25 lbs and standing for extended periods of time.
