Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$51,856.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$72,250.00

Placement within the salary range above is based on a combination of education and work experience.

    Job Description:

    Full-Time, Faculty, 9-month Academic position – Automotive Faculty. This is a
    Full-Time, due process, benefited Faculty position beginning Spring 2027 Semester.

    The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for professional development and service to the college.
    Teaching & Professional Obligations: 75%
    • Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur.
    • Instructional Delivery: Providing clear communication of information and promoting learning through an effective learning environment.
    • Instructional Design: Designing, sequencing, implementing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning (both in-person & online), and designing, developing, and implementing tools, technologies, and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes.
    • Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students.
    • Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
    • Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
    • Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
    • Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
    • Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content.
    • Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate.
    • Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
    • Maintain office hours, turn in grades on time, meet assigned classes.
    • Submits course syllabi and other required documents on time.
    • Manages the classroom facility.
    • Keeps accurate attendance and grade records.
    • Meets other professional obligations as stated in the Faculty Annual Plan and Evaluation.
    • Other Duties as Assigned.

    Scholarly & Creative Activities (Professional Development) & Service to the College: 25%

    • Endeavors related to a faculty member’s teaching assignment that contribute to the discovery, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge and/or skill.
    • Acquire and/or maintain certification.
    • Attend conferences, workshops, and/or training appropriate to one’s field.
    • Complete coursework related to one’s teaching assignment.
    • Create teaching methodology and instructional design.
    • Other activities that contribute to keeping current in the content field.
    • Helping the College meet the goals and objectives of its mission and strategic plan.
    • Provide competent advising to students seeking AAS, AS, and/or AA Degrees and program certificates.
    • Fulfill College service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community service groups.
    • Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities. Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials in one’s assigned area.
    • Serve on department, division, and institutional committees.
    • Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, and the development and assessment of learning.
    • Maintain classrooms and/or labs.
    • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College’s mission statement, purpose, philosophy and commitment to diversity.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Associate Degree in Automotive Service Technology, Occupational Studies, or related field.
    • Two (2) years of work experience in the automotive trade and qualify for a full-time, post-secondary Colorado Vocational Instructors’ Teaching Credential in Transportation, Automotive Service OR A current industry license/certification plus 6,000 hours (3 years) of relevant experience.
    • Full and current Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in A1-Engine Repair, A2-Automatic Transmission, A3-Manual Drive Train and Axles, A4-Suspension and Steering, A5-Brakes, A6-Engine Repair, A7-Electrical/Electrical Systems, A8-Engine Performance. ASE G1-Certification must be obtained prior to first day of classes. ASE L1 Certification must be obtained within the first year of employment, as well as all other ASE Educational Foundation/NATEF Standards for current Program Instructor Certification.
    • Ford Master Technician Certification or the ability to obtain in first year of employment.
    • This position requires a commitment to a high standard of work performance, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement of self and the program.
    • Must have the knowledge of, and experience with, personal computers as well as using systems relating to automotive service repair and automotive service instruction.
    • Must be able to build test banks, operate, and maintain automotive service industry equipment.
    • Requires the ability to work with more than one student(s) simultaneously during a stacked class block schedule.
    • Microsoft Office software experience.
    • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

    Required Licenses and/or Certifications

    • (ASE) Certification in A1-Engine Repair, A2-Automatic Transmission, A3-Manual Drive Train and Axles, A4-Suspension and Steering, A5-Brakes, A6-Engine Repair, A7-Electrical/Electrical Systems, A8-Engine Performance.
    • Ford Master Technician Certification & ASE G1-Certification (if not currently holding a certificate, it must be obtained in first year of employment).
    • ASE L1 Certification & ASE Educational Foundation/NATEF Standards for current Program Instructor Certification (if not currently holding certificate, it must be obtained within the first year of employment).
    • Proof of a valid driver’s license and insurability for a personal vehicle.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Three (3) years Experience in Automotive Service repair with an established repair facility or business
    • Prior automotive teaching experience in an accredited secondary or post-secondary institution within the past 5 years.
    • Experience in College/High School recruitment. Extensive software and equipment knowledge of Alldata, Mitchell on Demand/Shop Stream, ATECH Equipment, Electude Automotive Curriculum, ConsuLab Equipment, , Mustang Dyno equipment, and Identafix.
    • Service advising, automotive service management, and automotive dealership management experience.
    • Microsoft Office Product experience, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Experience in auto shop management, administrative activities related to budgeting, accounting, procurement, and personnel management.
    • Snap-on Diagnostic Tool Certifications. Hunter Alignment and Wheel/Tire Equipment Certifications, COATS Wheel and Tire Certifications, Pro Cut Brake Certifications, R1234 HVAC Certification.
    • D2L Educational Platform experience.
    • Student activities or club experience, civic club or community engagement activities, public-facing event participation (car shows, trade shows).
    • Ford Master Technician Certification.

    Faculty:  Upon hire, must submit academic transcripts from an accredited institution.
