About Perimeter Compute
Perimeter Compute is a seed-stage distributed edge inference company, co-founded by Montauk Capital, rapidly scaling across the nation.
AI's limit is no longer chips. It's power. New data centers wait years for a grid connection, while the office towers, hotels, and hospitals of every major city sit on power they were built for and no longer use. Perimeter Compute is on a mission to put that power to work.
We turn basements and mechanical rooms into GPU clusters, and our software links them into a single inference network running in the cities where AI is used. Building owners earn from space that would otherwise sit idle. Leading AI labs and inference providers get capacity without the years-long wait, a few miles from their users instead of a few states away.
Perimeter is a small, highly leveraged team that has worked every layer of this problem: building AI infrastructure at Lambda and HPE, engineering commercial buildings at Tishman Speyer and Trane, and routing inference at Subquadratic. The power is already there. Come build what runs on it.
About the Role
We are seeking an Infrastructure Deployment Manager to turn commercial building sites into operating AI infrastructure. You will own delivery from site assessment and planning through construction, commissioning, and handover, with accountability for schedule, budget, safety, and quality across multiple concurrent projects.
This is a hands-on role with a clear, short-term path to team leadership. Initially, you will manage projects directly, working with engineering consultants, contractors, equipment suppliers, and building teams to resolve technical and execution challenges in the field. As deployments scale, you will help hire and lead project managers, establish clear ownership across sites, and oversee delivery across the portfolio.
Your mandate is to build the execution capability to bring compute capacity online. Initial deployments will support NYC and another metro, with additional metros over time.
What You Will Do
• Own end-to-end deployment. Translate site requirements into complete scopes, budgets, schedules, and delivery milestones. Drive projects through engineering, procurement, permitting, construction, commissioning, and handover.
• Validate site readiness. Work with engineering and building teams to assess the availability of power, cooling, piping, space, and installation access. Surface constructability issues and dependencies before they become delays or cost overruns.
• Coordinate technical execution. Integrate electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and compute installation work. Review plans with qualified specialists, clarify interfaces, and resolve field issues involving power distribution, water-based cooling, and building infrastructure.
• Lead consultants and contractors. Define scopes, responsibilities, acceptance criteria, and work sequences. Manage delivery through EPCs, engineering firms, electrical and mechanical contractors, pipefitters, and suppliers; coordinate closely with building operators.
• Control cost, schedule, and risk. Track procurement lead times, critical-path activities, spending, and change orders across sites. Anticipate what can go wrong, develop mitigation plans, and escalate decisions with clear options and trade-offs.
• Deliver operationally ready sites. Coordinate testing, commissioning, punch lists, and acceptance with engineering and operations teams. Ensure documentation, as-built drawings, warranties, and maintenance requirements are complete at handover.
• Build a repeatable deployment function. Create practical playbooks, reporting, and project controls. Carry lessons from each site into subsequent deployments; over time, hire, coach, and oversee project managers while maintaining portfolio-wide accountability.
What You Will Bring
• Technical and delivery grounding. An engineering, technical construction, or infrastructure delivery background, with the ability to evaluate electrical and mechanical scopes, read drawings, and work credibly with specialist engineers and contractors.
• Relevant infrastructure delivery experience. Experience delivering power-intensive infrastructure, with working knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems. Direct experience with data center cooling, hydronic systems, heavy piping, or commissioning is particularly valuable.
• Ownership across multiple sites. Experience delivering concurrent projects directly or through EPCs, engineering consultants, and specialist contractors, with clear accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and handover.
• Strong execution and communication. The organizational discipline to keep multiple trades and stakeholders aligned, identify missing scope, and resolve problems quickly in a fast-moving environment.
• Capacity to grow into leadership. Experience leading project teams or external delivery partners. Initially, you will manage deployments directly; as the portfolio expands, you will hire and oversee project managers, allocate resources across sites, and establish consistent delivery standards.
• Willingness to be on site. Availability for at least 50% travel, initially supporting NYC and another metro. Experience with data centers, distributed infrastructure, or complex commercial building retrofits is a plus.
