Our products bring together precision mechanical components, electronics, optics, and sophisticated stabilized systems that must perform reliably in challenging operating environments.

In this hands-on role, you will perform inspection and verification activities throughout the manufacturing process, from incoming material through final product acceptance. Responsibilities include inspecting complex mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, and optical hardware; reviewing manufacturing and quality documentation; performing functional testing of completed systems; and identifying and documenting nonconforming conditions.

This is an opportunity to work directly with cutting-edge aerospace technology where quality and attention to detail truly matter. The successful candidate will combine technical aptitude, sound judgment, and strong attention to detail to help ensure our products meet demanding requirements for quality, performance, and reliability.

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of mechanical, electrical, and /or optical components, assemblies, and finished products to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, workmanship standards, and other applicable requirements.
  • Perform final inspection and functional testing of complex finished products using approved acceptance test procedures. Verify workmanship, configuration, identification, documentation, and other specified product requirements prior to acceptance and release.
  • Set up and use mechanical and electronic inspection and test equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, multimeters, and other equipment necessary to verify product requirements.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, inspection instructions, test procedures, and other technical documentation.
  • Review manufacturing travelers, inspection records, test results, certifications, and other product documentation for completeness, accuracy, traceability, and required approvals.
  • Perform and/or review First Article Inspection (FAI) activities, including verification of drawing characteristics, specifications, certifications, and inspection results.
  • Identify, document, and communicate nonconforming conditions. Initiate Discrepant Material Reports (DMRs), control suspect material, and support containment activities as required.
  • Support Material Review Board (MRB), root cause, supplier corrective action, and corrective action activities by providing inspection data and technical observations. Perform verification or reinspection following disposition or rework.
  • Collaborate with Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, and other functions to clarify requirements, investigate discrepancies, resolve quality issues, and improve inspection methods.
  • Analyze inspection results and quality trends to identify recurring issues and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support administration and improvement of the site's Quality Management System.
  • Participate in internal and external audits and support customer acceptance and on-site product delivery activities as required.
  • Maintain accurate and traceable quality records, exercise sound technical judgment, work independently on routine assignments, and appropriately escalate issues requiring additional technical or engineering evaluation.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical training preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, manufacturing, testing, or a related hands-on technical role preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and written inspection or test procedures.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement equipment, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other dimensional inspection tools.
  • Ability to set up and use electronic test equipment, including digital multimeters.
  • Strong attention to detail with good analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment within established procedures and requirements.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; SAP or other manufacturing ERP experience preferred.
  • Experience inspecting or testing complex mechanical, electrical, electro-mechanical, optical, or electro-optical products preferred.
  • Experience with GD&T, First Article Inspection (FAI), nonconformance/MRB processes, and calibration practices preferred.
  • Experience working within an AS9100 or ISO 9001 Quality Management System preferred.
  • Familiarity with applicable workmanship standards, such as IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or equivalent electronic and cable-assembly acceptance criteria, preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar certification is a plus.
