Role type: Max Term Part-Time 28hrs per week, (12 months contract)

Role grade: Hospital Scientist Year 1-8

Department and location: Gastroenterology, St Vincent’s Public Hospital, Sydney

Salary: $ $79,433.52 - $113,298.98 (pro-rata) + super +salary packaging

About the role

  • The primary role is to perform, analyse and report oesophageal physiology tests: oesophageal high-resolution manometry, 24-hour pH studies and Endoflip.

  • Be part of a specialist service – work alongside gastroenterologists and a multidisciplinary team within the Centre for Swallowing & Oesophageal Disorders, Department of Gastroenterology, St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney.

  • Learn, contribute and grow – support the Centre’s large clinical research program, with opportunity to be supervised to obtain a higher degree by research (e.g. PhD).

  • Technical skills and quality control – operate specialised equipment, troubleshoot technical issues with hardware, maintain high laboratory standards, infection control.

  • Keep quality at the forefront – ensure accurate test results, strong quality assurance, and safe, patient-focused practice.

About you

  • Human Physiology expertise – BSc or equivalent qualification with a strong foundation in Human Physiology.

  • This is a patient-facing role, so you should be an excellent verbal communicator and enjoy interacting with and reassuring patients.

  • You should be comfortable that the role involves performing invasive procedures as part of clinical measurement (insertion of manometry and pH catheters transnasally), training will be provided.

  • Technical skills and ability to troubleshoot are helpful.
