The Role

As Head of Photo Production, Berlin, you will own how our photography is made: the systems, and the standard that every shoot is held to. You will lead the Berlin photo production team, the engine behind marketing, lifestyle and product content for HelloFresh, Factor and our international markets. This is a senior, systems-minded leadership role. You will set the direction for how photo production runs, give clear and useful feedback on all aspects of the work, and turn a creative vision into a studio that delivers it every week.

HelloFresh is at a pivotal moment of transformation. We are moving towards a modular, global content system, bringing AI-assisted workflows alongside traditional photography, and balancing centralised brand standards with the needs of local markets. Our tooling is changing with us: capture, workflow and digital asset management are being aligned across markets, and the person in this role makes sure those systems are actually used and genuinely help the team. You will be comfortable working in a fast, international, collaborative environment where teams are open, respectful and supportive of each other.

You will work closely with the Lead Photographer, who sets the creative bar on set, with the Lead Art Director, who owns our visual standard, and partner with our Head of AI so that real shoots and AI-generated content work towards the same goal. You will also partner with the Head of Operations and regional content leads, including North America, on intake, capacity and brand relationships. 

This role is photo production. Video and XPod are not part of it.

What You'll Do

Photo Leadership & People

You will lead, develop and inspire the Berlin photo production team, including the Lead Photographer.

• Set clear performance expectations, agree individual growth plans, and keep a healthy performance culture through regular 1:1s and honest, timely feedback.
• Mentor photographers and production team members, and help each person see how they grow with us.
• Build a culture of open dialogue where creative ownership is encouraged across the team.
• Make hiring decisions as well as creating a clear onboarding process for our internal hires and our HF partners (internal and external agency). 

Systems & Workflow

• Own the photo production workflow across briefing, capture, file management, tagging and delivery, including handover to Post-Production.Own the photo production workflow across capture, retouching, tagging and delivery, and make sure the tools involved ) are used properly by every relevant team.
• Standardise briefs, terminology and templates across markets, including a shared glossary, so that tagging and metadata work automatically.
• Lead the move to our new asset management setup with Studio Operations, and fix data and tagging issues at the source.
• Cut down avoidable handoffs, approvals and rework, and measure what the studio saves.
• Process excellence must be a key part of your previous experience

Quality & Standards

• Review work across shoots and markets and create a system with Lead Photo and Lead AD on specific feedback on lighting, styling, composition, retouching and consistency.
• Help NA teams and markets that are not yet at the global Marketing and Lifestyle standard, through coaching and studio set-up with Head of Content NA. 
• Work closely (daily) with Head of Studio Operations on capacity planning, reshoot etc

Photography & AI Together

Partnership with the Head of AI is a vital part of our success in 2027. 

• Align with the Head of AI on opportunities where Photography and AI intersect, including hybrid production models.Align with the Head of AI on where AI is the right tool: we will operate a seamless hybrid model.
• Make sure any change that affects roles, cost or capacity has a clear, logical justification and is communicated with the Head of Studio Operations.
• Help the team build the photo skills it needs as our tools and methods change.

Demand, Capacity & Delivery

• Be the point person for Head of Studio Operations for assisting planning, schedule and budget on photo production.
• Be accountable for on-time delivery and quality, and escalate delivery risks early with a recommendation for the next steps.
• Build a modular content library, so one shoot serves multiple brands, markets and formats.

Innovation & Creative Ambition

• Test new ideas in the studio, such as virtual or projected backgrounds, new lighting approaches and new ways of making food look delicious, and show the results to creative and brand teams.
• Work with the creative team to broaden the guidance we can test and move quickly on.
• Educate stakeholders about what the studio can do, so that requests and expectations grow with the capability.

What You'll Bring

You are a senior photo production leader who combines real craft with the systems thinking to run a high-volume, multi-brand studio. You understand that good process and good pictures support each other, and you can give strong, specific feedback on both.

• Significant experience leading photo production or a studio team in a multi-brand, high-volume environment, ideally food, e-commerce or lifestyle.
• Strong visual judgement, and the ability to give clear, useful feedback on shot and collaborate effectively on AI-generated and hybrid contentimagery.
• A systems and process mindset, with hands-on experience of capture, workflow and digital asset management tools, and of getting teams to adopt them.
• A track record of running shoots, schedules and budgets, and of managing vendors and freelancers.
• Experience developing people, with a record of building team members' skills and careers.
• Comfort with AI-assisted content, and a balanced view of where it helps and where real photography is better.
• Credibility with senior stakeholders and the confidence to say no with reasons, in a decisive, calm and direct style.
