About Tutor

We believe robots are the biggest lever we have to making the physical world a better, more affordable place. But robots are a rounding error in our society: nearly nine out of ten American factories and warehouses don’t even have a single robot, and robots have yet to make their way into our homes or places of business.

Tutor Intelligence is changing that.

Tutor is a robotics research and deployment company, building generally capable robot hardware and artificial intelligence to enable robots to go where no robots have gone before. Sonny is a semi-humanoid robot with frontier dexterity approaching the human form. Cassie does back-breaking work, moving boxes, pallets, and bulk goods for businesses from family-owned manufacturers to some of the largest brands in the world. Tutor robots are manufactured at scale and operate as a network, combining the whole fleet’s learned experience to train ever more capable robot artificial intelligence.

Founded at MIT and headquartered in Watertown, MA, our team is full stack: we design and manufacture robot hardware, train our own models, work directly with the smallest and largest end-customers, and maintain our fleet across the United States. We’re a team of researchers, engineers, technicians, operators, and sellers who love building things and solving hard problems.

Our mission is grand: robots everywhere, for the common good, raising the standard of living across North America, and then the world.

The Role

We're hiring Tutor's first Head of Marketing: the leader who will define our category, own our narrative, and build the marketing engine and organization for an AI robotics company with robots working in production today.

Tutor is in a rare position. We're an AI robotics lab with a deployed, revenue-generating fleet and a loyal customer base — very early to a category most companies are still demoing. We have two distinct motions to power: a high-velocity mid-market business selling to manufacturers and co-packers, and a growing enterprise business built on seven-figure programs with major logistics and consumer brands. Marketing today is early and largely embedded in Sales; your mandate is to turn it into a strategic function that compounds — process-, technology-, and numbers-driven rather than powered by individual heroics.

You'll report directly to the CEO, sit on the leadership team, and own the full stack: category and brand, product marketing, demand generation, events, and PR/communications. You'll inherit and grow a small team into a large organization building and executing a new playbook for general proliferation of AI robotics.

This is a player-coach role. We're looking for a builder who still makes things, not an operator who needs a large org and agency bench to function. And we're an AI company: we expect you to build an AI-native marketing organization where an elite team produces at unusual scale.

Responsibilities

Strategy & Ownership of the Number

  • Define Tutor's marketing strategy across both motions and own marketing's contribution to revenue: pipeline sourced and influenced, measured honestly.
  • Establish the measurement and attribution discipline to know what's working — across trade shows, campaigns, content, and PR — and reallocate accordingly.
  • Operate as a full member of the leadership team in tight partnership with the Head of Sales on a shared pipeline.
  • Category & Brand

  • Own Tutor's narrative and positioning: cement our position in public and industry awareness and lay claim to the category while our timing advantage lasts.
  • Build a quarterly event/PR drumbeat, anchored by a flagship annual Tutor event serving press, enterprise relationship-building, and pipeline.
  • Systematize founder-led thought leadership and decide how our research and product milestones get told to press, analysts, and the community.
  • Bring coherence to our brand and product architecture as the product line expands.
  • Product Marketing

  • Oversee messaging, customer proof, and sales enablement across product lines and buyer types
  • Ensure every deployment turns into marketing assets: case studies by default, quantified ROI stories, and vertical collateral in daily use by the sales team.
  • Demand Generation

  • Build the vertical demand engine for the mid-market motion: vertical landing pages, content, nurture, and inbound that make our core products progressively lower-friction to sell.
  • Stand up account-based marketing for the enterprise motion with Sales: target-account strategy, executive-level content and programs, and air cover for our largest pursuits.
  • Team & AI-Native Operations

  • Recruit and lead a small, exceptional team amplified by AI agents — collateral production, research, and campaign operations largely run on pipelines the team designs.
  • Own the marketing budget and vendor/agency relationships, with a bias toward building capability in-house.
  • Qualifications

  • 10+ years in B2B marketing with experience scaling a marketing function 1→N at a startup (0→1 experience a strong plus) — you've built the machine, not just run one.
  • Experience bringing a novel product category to market, creating demand rather than competing for existing search volume in a crowded space.
  • Full-stack marketer with a strong product marketing core and real depth in demand generation, events, and PR/brand/category communications.
  • Experience across both mid-market velocity and high-touch, high-value enterprise motions.
  • Experience marketing to non-technical operational buyers (plant, operations, and supply chain leadership).
  • A track record of tight, trusted partnership with sales leadership on a shared pipeline number.
  • AI-native: software-capable or deeply curious, already using AI as leverage in your work, and excited to build a marketing org around it.
  • High-agency, creative, and spiky — strong opinions, distinctive work, and a bias to ship.
  • Based in / willing to relocate to the Boston area — this role is in person at our Watertown HQ; travel up to ~20% (customer sites, trade shows), though likely less.
  • You're probably not a fit if your playbook is primarily paid-channel demand gen, if you're a brand leader who doesn't own pipeline, or if you've only operated inside large marketing organizations with big teams and agency support.

    Preferred Experience

  • Supply chain (manufacturing, logistics), industrial automation, or robotics — warehouse automation or supply chain services likely the best fit.
  • Marketing capital equipment, hardware, or other considered physical-product purchases.
  • Building or scaling flagship owned events and executive/community programs.

  • Why Tutor?

Whether you’re designing robots, closing deals, running deployments, or creating the processes that help us scale, your work doesn’t sit on a shelf. It shows up on real production floors, making physical work safer and more affordable.

Our team of 160+ is driven by curiosity and a genuine love of building. Everyone here takes real ownership, learns fast, and holds a high bar while having each other’s backs. If you love hard problems and creating things that didn’t exist before, you’ll fit right in.

    Benefits

We take care of our team so they can do their best work. At Tutor, you’ll get:

    • Fully employer-covered health insurance, so you’re protected without the premium.
    • A managed 401(k) to help you plan for the future.
    • Generous time off: unlimited PTO and all federal holidays off for full-time salaried employees, and 16+ days of accrued paid time off plus 1.5x pay on federal holidays for hourly employees.
    • Regular in-office meals and team social events throughout the year.

As Tutor grows, so will our benefits. We’re continuing to invest in ways to support our team at work and beyond.

Tutor Intelligence is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
