About the role

We are looking for an experienced technology leader to join ASX as our Head of Data Platform Engineering & Delivery.

In this influential leadership role, you will take ownership of the delivery, engineering and solution governance of the ASX Data Platform. You will lead the team responsible for building, onboarding and continuously improving the platform, ensuring it delivers sustainable value across ASX.

You will establish consistent design and engineering practices, enable a data product delivery model across ASX teams, promote adoption of the platform and lead delivery of its capability roadmap.

About the team

The Data Platform Engineering & Delivery team sits within Data & Enterprise Platforms in ASX Technology.

The team brings together operations, engineering, delivery and enablement capabilities to help application and product teams safely access, understand and share data. It operates as a trusted partner and platform owner, supporting teams to create sustainable solutions in an agile way.

You will be a member of the Data & Enterprise Platforms leadership team and work closely with Technology, Architecture, the Data Office and data delivery teams across ASX. The role leads approximately five direct reports and a broader team of around 40 people, including vendor resources.

What you’ll be doing

• Own the ASX Data Platform, including its maintenance program, risk and control environment, supplier management and customer service.
• Lead the engineering capability responsible for delivering strategic data platform solutions.
• Define the platform roadmap and oversee delivery to progressively mature its capabilities.
• Lead solution design governance and establish consistent frameworks that enable federated product teams to build effectively on the platform.
• Develop and manage strategic partnerships and key supplier arrangements.
• Define and implement the data platform and data product operating model.
• Ensure the team has the right capabilities, capacity and career development pathways to deliver successfully.
• Build an inclusive, high-performing environment through clear goals, supportive leadership and strong team development.
• Partner with Technology and business leadership teams to develop data platform strategies and roadmaps aligned with the broader Technology strategy.
• Establish a scalable data product delivery model in partnership with data workload teams across Technology.
• Manage annual budgeting, resource and equipment planning, business cases and the Data Platform Engineering & Delivery profit and loss responsibilities.
• Develop and embed FinOps capabilities that provide transparency and support the allocation of platform costs to consumers.
• Manage critical vendor relationships and commercial arrangements.

What we’re looking for

You will bring:

• More than 10 years’ experience in senior technology service ownership or delivery roles within a corporate enterprise.
• Demonstrated experience leading large data engineering teams.
• Proven success delivering a data product model using a cloud platform.
• A strong track record of building and operating critical systems in a highly regulated and visible environment.
• Experience managing strategic vendor and supplier relationships.
• The ability to build trust, inspire confidence and influence stakeholders at all levels, including executive and board stakeholders.
• Strong leadership experience, including building and leading teams through technology and organisational change.
• A collaborative and consultative leadership style that creates an inclusive, supportive and high-performing culture.

Highly regarded

• Experience working within capital markets or financial services.
• An understanding of contemporary technology platforms, systems and engineering approaches used in financial services.
