Group Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) is looking for a Lead FEC Investigations to join the Group FCC Intelligence & Investigations Unit. This is a unique and challenging opportunity for an experienced professional to lead the investigations domain within an international second line function, coordinating and managing complex global investigations and significant Financial Economic Crime (FEC) events across ING Group.

The team

The Group FCC Intelligence & Investigations Unit has a deep understanding of the context, drivers and developments of Financial Economic Crime in a constantly evolving global landscape. The team understands how financial institutions can be exposed to complex schemes involving international criminal organisations operating across multiple jurisdictions in an increasingly digitalised banking environment.

The team combines professional expertise with strong international collaboration, where critical thinking, integrity, continuous improvement and innovation are central to how we work and lead. As Lead FEC Investigations, you will lead an international team of dedicated investigators based in Amsterdam and Warsaw and work closely with local FCC teams across the ING Group.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role, you will lead global investigations and provide direction in response to complex and significant Financial Economic Crime risks and events.

• Lead an international team of dedicated investigators in Amsterdam and Warsaw and foster collaboration across the global FCC network.
• Coordinate global investigations and execute complex second line investigations in response to significant FEC events.
• Triage sensitive and high-impact cases and determine appropriate risk-based investigative responses.
• Manage investigations across business lines and jurisdictions, ensuring a structured and coordinated approach throughout ING Group.
• Develop and maintain risk-based investigation strategies, methodologies and procedures within the investigations domain.
• Coach, assess, develop and inspire investigators and stakeholders involved in complex investigations.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across all organisational levels and countries.
• Provide expert advice to support investigative objectives and effective risk management.
• Ensure timely, accurate and impactful reporting to senior management, regulators and supervisory authorities.
• Drive high-quality investigative outcomes while maintaining compliance within a regulated environment.

• You bring at least 10 years of relevant experience in Financial Economic Crime investigations within an international environment, enabling you to lead complex global cases confidently.
• You have a proven track record in managing time-sensitive and data-heavy financial crime investigations and delivering effective outcomes.
• You are comfortable working across business, organisational and geographical boundaries and demonstrate strong cultural awareness.
• You understand stakeholder landscapes, governance structures, roles, responsibilities and lines of defence, allowing you to navigate complex environments effectively.
• You have a strong understanding of banking, Financial Economic Crime risks and the associated processes, technologies and market developments.
• You possess in-depth knowledge of risks across multiple business lines and banking products from a global perspective.
• You have strong expertise in cross-border payment flows, correspondent banking, Payment Service Providers and emerging FEC typologies.
• You build trusted partnerships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders to achieve common goals.
• You demonstrate strong judgement, countervailing power and the confidence to challenge when required in high-impact situations.
• You hold a university degree in a relevant field such as criminology, criminal law, political science, international security, international relations or security risk management, and preferably possess a professional investigation qualification such as CFE or equivalent.
