GlobalLINK Business Risk Advisor, Managing Director

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a senior first-line Business Risk executive to lead the risk advisory and control agenda for State Street Markets’ GlobalLink business, including its suite of electronic trading platforms, workflow solutions, pre- and post-trade capabilities, execution venues, white label solutions and payment solutions. The role will provide strategic direction, credible challenge and senior risk leadership across a business that connects clients to liquidity, financing, research, analytics and market infrastructure through a unified, interoperable LINK ecosystem.

This Managing Director will lead a team of Business Risk professionals and partner closely with GlobalLink business leadership, Sales, Product, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Finance, Enterprise Risk and Internal Audit. The successful candidate will bring strong judgment across electronic trading, client lifecycle, platform resiliency, market conduct, regulatory compliance, data-led oversight and operational risk, while helping GlobalLink continue to grow responsibly as a market-leading, client-facing platform business.

Why this role is important to us

GlobalLink is a key part of State Street Markets’ growth strategy, providing clients with integrated trading, liquidity, cash management, analytics, connectivity and post-trade solutions across products such as LINK, FX Connect, FX Connect MTF, Currenex, Fund Connect, BestX, BestXecutor, TradeNeXus and GlobalLINK Payments. Because these platforms support global client execution, market access, data exchange, trading workflow, settlement and regulatory reporting, the role is critical to maintaining a resilient, well-controlled and regulator-ready operating environment. The Business Risk Advisor Lead will help ensure GlobalLink’s innovation, interoperability and client growth are supported by disciplined governance, effective controls, timely escalation and sustainable remediation.

What you will be responsible for

As the Business Risk Advisor Lead for GlobalLink, you will:

  • Serve as the senior Business Risk Management lead and principal escalation point for material risk, control and emerging-risk matters affecting Financing Solutions, Portfolio Solutions and adjacent Markets activities.

  • Lead and develop a team of Business Risk professionals, set clear accountability and priorities, and oversee the quality and consistency of risk advisory coverage delivered to the supported businesses.

  • Provide executive-level risk advice and credible challenges to business leadership across trade execution, lifecycle management, financing, collateral, valuation, market conduct, surveillance and regulatory reporting.

  • Establish and oversee the end-to-end first-line risk and control framework, including risk and control assessments, control inventories, key risk indicators, issue management, incident and near-miss governance, and senior management reporting.

  • Ensure material incidents, control failures and emerging exposures are identified early, escalated promptly, investigated thoroughly and remediated through sustainable, well-documented actions.

  • Drive control modernization through automation, data-led monitoring, process simplification and exception-based oversight, with particular focus on reducing manual error and strengthening preventive and detective controls.

  • Lead Business Risk engagement for regulatory examinations, internal audits and independent reviews, including preparation of clear narratives, evidence, management responses and sustainable remediation plans.

  • Partner with Compliance and Legal to assess regulations impacting electronic trading providers globally, including requirements related to market access, trading venues, algorithmic and electronic trading controls, conduct risk, client transparency, data, reporting, operational resilience and cross-border platform delivery, and translate them into practical business and control actions.

  • Provide executive risk sponsorship and challenge for new products, business expansion, strategic change, technology transformation and operating-model initiatives, including assessment of readiness, scalability and residual risk.

  • Chair or represent the business in relevant risk committees and governance forums, ensuring transparent reporting, timely decisions, clear ownership and disciplined action tracking.

  • Build effective partnerships across the three lines of defense and communicate complex risk matters in clear, decision-ready language for executive leadership, governance committees, auditors and regulators.

  • Promote a strong culture of risk ownership, constructive challenge, accountability and continuous improvement across the supported businesses.

What we value

These skills will help you succeed in this role:

  • Executive presence and the ability to influence, challenge and advise senior leaders while maintaining strong business partnerships.

  • Deep knowledge of first-line risk management, control design, issue and incident management, operational resilience and regulatory remediation.

  • Commercial judgment and the ability to balance business growth with the firm’s risk appetite, regulatory obligations and control standards.

  • Strategic thinking combined with disciplined execution, clear escalation, and strong attention to the quality of risk documentation and evidence.

  • Ability to lead through complexity, set direction across a global stakeholder network, and build high-performing, inclusive teams.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, including experience presenting to executive committees, governance forums, auditors and regulators.

Education and preferred qualifications

  • 15+ years of financial services experience, including significant senior leadership experience in Business Risk, Markets Risk, Operational Risk, Compliance, Audit, Business Controls or a related function.

  • Direct experience supporting electronic trading platforms, multi-asset execution venues, client connectivity, liquidity access, workflow solutions, payments, analytics or post-trade capabilities within a global markets environment.

  • Deep understanding of platform operating models, electronic trading workflows, market structure, client onboarding and entitlements, data and analytics, settlement, regulatory reporting, technology resiliency and front-to-back control design.

  • Demonstrated success leading regulatory examinations, audits, complex remediation programs and large-scale control or operating-model transformation.

  • Proven people leadership experience, including developing senior risk professionals and coordinating teams and stakeholders across regions.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree and relevant industry or risk certifications are preferred.

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $267,500 Annual
