Job Description

The Planning & Management team sits within the Retail & Channels ‘Partner, Transform & Operate’ function in Group Technology & Operations (GTO). The team leads planning and provides structure and oversight to ensure the function operates effectively, and in alignment with strategic priorities. Working closely with senior leaders and key partners, the team drives efficiency, effectiveness and quality execution across the function.

Key Responsibilities

• The Retail Project Portfolio & App Lifecycle Lead leads project portfolio planning, demand and book-of-work forecasting, application lifecycle management, and governance effectiveness for the Retail portfolio.
• Partnering with Business, Technology, Strategy, Risk, Planning and Country stakeholders, the role drives transparency of project demand, capacity implications, and application risk priorities to support informed investment, prioritisation, and workforce planning decisions.
• The role requires strong judgement, strategic thinking and the ability to influence senior stakeholders, challenge assumptions, surface trade-offs, and support executive decision-making.
• Lead project pipeline planning and prioritisation, ensuring project demand is aligned to strategic business priorities and informed by capacity considerations
• Drive visibility of the book-of-work, including approved projects, project pipeline, forward investment demand and capacity implications, to support prioritisation and workforce planning decisions.
• Lead the quality uplift of project investment proposals by strengthening paper clarity, governance discipline, adherence to standards, and approval readiness to support effective management decision-making.
• Provide management insights and recommendations on project demand, capacity implications, investment priorities and key prioritisation trade-offs.
• Serve as the primary lead for application lifecycle management, driving alignment across senior regional Business, Technology, Risk, Planning and Country stakeholders on obsolescence risk remediation priorities and plans.
• Lead forward planning of application refresh initiatives to support risk mitigation, obsolescence remediation prioritisation, and timely approval of required remediation initiatives.
• Oversee the annual technology obsolescence review exercise, ensuring robust validation and timely completion.

Job Requirements

• Strong experience in technology project portfolio planning, demand forecasting, investment prioritisation, and book-of-work oversight within banking or financial services.
• Proven ability to analyse project demand, capacity implications, and prioritisation trade-offs, and translate insights into clear recommendations and actionable plans.
• Strong governance and reporting skills, including the preparation, review, and quality assurance of executive and investment papers.
• Demonstrated ability to work across Business, Technology, Risk, Planning, and Country stakeholders to drive alignment, resolve issues, and progress outcomes. 
• Knowledge of application lifecycle management, technology refresh planning and obsolescence risk management. 
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex information, strengthen management papers, and drive high standards of governance discipline.
• Strong organisational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, track deliverables, and drive timely execution across multiple initiatives.
• Self-starter with a hands-on approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
