We are seeking a motivated and technically minded Forensic Investigator to join our expanding fire investigation team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to investigate fire and explosion incidents across domestic, commercial, and industrial settings, including complex and high-value losses. As a Forensic Investigator, you will be responsible for determining the origin, cause and development of fires through systematic scene examination, evidence collection, witness interviews and scientific analysis. You will work closely with senior investigators, insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors and other stakeholders to provide impartial, evidence-based conclusions.

The position combines practical fire scene investigation with technical report writing and analytical assessment. You will attend fire scenes throughout the UK, document findings, examine electrical and mechanical appliances, recover evidence and assist in developing robust technical conclusions. The role provides excellent opportunities to develop specialist expertise through structured training, mentoring and professional development.

This is an ideal opportunity for individuals with a background in fire investigation, fire engineering, engineering, forensic science, fire and rescue services, or related technical disciplines who are keen to build a rewarding career in forensic consultancy.

You will have/will be:

Professional memberships and industry-specific fire investigation qualifications are desirable.
  • Fire Investigation Experience: Demonstrable experience investigating the origin and cause of fire and explosion incidents. Sound understanding of fire dynamics, fire development, fire scene examination and evidence preservation techniques.
  • Analytical & Reporting Skills: Ability to analyse complex technical information and develop evidence-based conclusions. Experience producing clear, detailed and impartial technical reports suitable for clients, insurers and legal proceedings.
  • Expert Witness Experience: Ability to present technical findings confidently and objectively to non-technical audiences. Experience acting as an expert witness or providing expert opinion is advantageous.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant legislation, standards and guidance associated with fire investigation and fire safety.
  • Driving licence: Full UK driving license is essential for travel to incident sites and laboratories.
  • Insurance industry exposure: Experience in the insurance sector is beneficial but not essential, as training will be provided.
