The Fleet Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operation of the company's fleet to ensure vehicle availability, legal compliance, cost control, preventative maintenance, and efficient transport operations. The role supports operational continuity by optimizing fleet utilization, managing service providers, monitoring vehicle performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and statutory requirements.WHAT YOU WILL DO:
- Coordinate daily fleet activities to ensure vehicles are available and assigned according to operational requirements.
- Monitor vehicle utilization and optimize fleet deployment.
- Schedule vehicle allocations based on business priorities.
- Track vehicle movements and maintain accurate fleet records.
- Ensure effective communication between drivers, operations teams, maintenance providers, and management.
- Respond to operational issues and vehicle breakdowns promptly.
- Schedule preventative maintenance and servicing for all fleet vehicles.
- Monitor maintenance schedules and ensure services are completed on time.
- Coordinate repairs and mechanical inspections.
- Maintain service and repair records.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with roadworthiness and safety standards.
- Monitor vehicle licenses, registration renewals, permits, and certifications.
- Coordinate annual inspections and compliance audits
- Conduct formal employee evaluations, providing formal feedback and development points bi-annually
- Manage career and succession plans, including development capability to ensure an appropriate level of skill and competence
- Manage conflict resolution
- Oversee the consistent application, enforcement and management of discipline across the team
- Manage compliance with relevant employment legislation and company policies
- Consequence management
- Training & development
- Monitor fuel consumption and identify irregularities.Track fuel card usage and reconcile monthly fuel reports. Analyze fleet costs, including:
- Fuel
- Maintenance
- Repairs
- Insurance
- Licensing
- Tolls
- Assist in developing cost-saving initiatives.
- Monitor vehicle operating expenses against budgets.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- 5 years' Leadership experience in Logistics within an FMCG environment
- National Diploma in Logistics or equivalent
