This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: The Madison Club, set outside of La Quinta, CA.The Madison Club is seeking a Personal Trainer to join the Wellness Department.
The Personal Trainer will work with members and their guests by providing personal training and fitness classes and develop tailored fitness programs to promote healthy lifestyles. The Fitness Instructor will use their strong interpersonal skills to motivate and encourage members to meet their needs and goals. In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.
The Madison Club is open during the winter & spring season, and this role will be for a full time, seasonal need from October 2026 - June 2027. Preferred candidates will have a flexible schedule, be able to work weekends & holidays, and understand that PTO requests will be limited during March and April (key event/ festival months).
Key Responsibilities
Provides personal training sessions
Facilitates group fitness classes
Maintains appearance of the fitness center and other fitness areas throughout the day to include stock and re-stocking of items as needed such as towel display, food, and beverage items.
Maintains cleanliness of fitness center and equipment.
Attending to the laundering and folding of towels to maintain an adequate supply.
Reports any safety or maintenance concerns immediately.
Completes daily opening and closing procedures.
Stays current on all activities offered and equipment related to recreational activities.
Skills and Qualifications
Possess valid, up to date, Personal Training Certification
Having and maintaining a working knowledge of human anatomy and the concepts of functional exercise, basic nutrition and fundamental principles of exercise science
An ability to design and execute individual and small group exercise fitness programs, tailored to the needs and attainable goals of the individual, apparently healthy client, in a safe and effective way
An understanding for the need for and importance of screening and client assessment; proficiency in conducting these evaluations initially and progressively
A desire to help clients reach their health and fitness goals through appropriate cardiovascular, flexibility and resistance exercise
College degree in physical education or related field preferred
Certification from a nationally recognized agency such as ACE, AFFA, ASCM, NSCA, NASM, Pilates, and TPI.
Current first aid, CPR, and other safety certifications when required by the client
Ability to demonstrate equipment use for exercise training
Must be able to lift 45-pound weight plates
Excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic
Efficient, well organized, and able to handle a variety of duties simultaneously
Professional manner, discretion, and appearance
Excellent verbal and written skills
Energetic, enthusiastic and motivational
Strong team player
Ability to stand for long periods
Awareness of proper body mechanics to prevent injury
Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members
Previous experience in the fitness industry, strongly preferred
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, running, moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, heavy lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing and pulling sometimes in excess of fifty (50) pounds.

The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $17.00 plus Commissions and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
