Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection Superintendent / Foreman to lead and oversee fire alarm installation work on high-level commercial construction projects in the Dallas, TX area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing fire alarm systems, the ability to confidently read and interpret construction plans, and a proven background working on complex commercial projects, particularly hospital and healthcare facilities.
This role is ideal for a field leader who can take ownership of fire alarm installations, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and according to project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead fire alarm installation crews on commercial construction projects.
- Install, troubleshoot, and oversee fire alarm systems in accordance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes.
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, fire alarm plans, and project specifications.
- Coordinate installation activities with other trades, project management, and the General Contractor.
- Ensure fire alarm systems are installed correctly and according to project requirements.
- Review plans and identify potential installation issues before they impact project progress.
- Manage daily field activities, manpower, materials, and installation schedules.
- Monitor project progress and maintain quality and productivity standards.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and jobsite requirements.
- Assist with inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and system turnover.
- Communicate project updates, challenges, and material needs to project management.
- Provide leadership and direction to installers and field personnel.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Fire Protection Superintendent, Fire Alarm Foreman, Fire Alarm Superintendent, or similar field leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with commercial fire alarm systems.
- Ability to independently read and interpret fire alarm plans and construction drawings.
- Experience installing fire alarm systems based on plans and project specifications.
- Previous experience working on large-scale commercial construction projects, ideally in the $3M–$5M+ range.
- Hospital/healthcare construction experience is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of fire alarm installation practices, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to lead crews and coordinate work in an active commercial construction environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- NICET certification is highly preferred and considered a strong plus.
- Experience with hospital, healthcare, institutional, or other complex commercial facilities.
- Experience coordinating fire alarm installations with electrical, mechanical, and other construction trades.
- Familiarity with applicable fire alarm codes, standards, and inspection requirements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on fire alarm professional who has progressed into a Foreman or Superintendent-level role and is comfortable taking ownership of large, complex commercial installations. Experience on hospital projects and $3M–$5M+ construction projects is especially valuable.
This is not an entry-level position. Candidates should be able to walk onto a complex commercial project, read the fire alarm plans, understand the scope of work, and effectively lead the installation from the field.
