Purpose
Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Financial Management (AFM) on Treasury, Risk and Payment Information. This position heads the Cash Management section of AFM.
Responsibilities
- Provide Leadership by developing personnel. Evaluate, recommend, and implement process improvements for quality and efficiency. Assist supervisors in maintaining balancing between daily tasks and strategic direction.
- Assist Financial Analyst with various banking issues and bank communications.
- Administration and monitoring of all credit card operations in coordination with Merchant Services Assistant Director.
- Review and verify Petty Cash Reconciliations.
- Supervise all bank account reconciliations, including credit card bank account. Provide advice and assistance to support personnel to keep all reconciliations accurate, current and completed efficiently.
- Backup for all local banking functions as needed.
- Work with Director to support state accounting and reconciliation functions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Management, or Business Administration and at least 3 years of Supervisory Experience and at least 6 years in Professional level accounting or financial experience.
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to track multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, training materials, and presentations targeting both business and technical audiences.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with individuals with varying skills and backgrounds at all levels within a complex and decentralized organization.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of UT and/or state financial policies and systems (e.g., *DEFINE, USAS, Workday HCM).
- 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, accounting, merchant services, or other positions which provided knowledge of public sector accounting and/or merchant support practices, administrative procedures, and related state and federal regulatory laws.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standardized financial, accounting and auditing practices.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CTP
- Previous experience working in a university setting and/or other public sector experience.
- Experience working with vendors and key internal stakeholders (e.g. Information Security Office, ITS Networking, Procurement and Payment Services) at The University of Texas at Austin or in another university setting.
- Experience with software and applications necessary for written communication and cloud-based storage and communication (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Box).
Salary Range
- $ 82,000 + depending on qualifications
Working Conditions
- The position provides for work-life balance with a typically 40- hour work week that includes flexible work arrangements.
- In person position with possibility of a hybrid work schedule.
- Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
- Use of manual dexterity (ex: using a mouse)
