We have multiple opportunities for experienced and motivated Field Service Fitters to join our Mackay Field Service team. As a Field Service Fitter, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy mining equipment across multiple mine sites throughout the Bowen Basin. Working from a fully equipped field service vehicle, you will respond to breakdowns, perform scheduled maintenance, and ensure equipment reliability while building strong relationships with site personnel and customers.

These permanent positions offer an attractive 7/7 roster, allowing you to enjoy an excellent work-life balance. Camp accommodation, meals, and a fully equipped field service vehicle are provided.

What you’ll be doing:
As a Field Service Fitter at Hastings Deering, you will:

• Keep equipment running – diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy mining equipment in the field to maximise availability and performance.
• Deliver proactive maintenance – carry out planned maintenance, inspections, and component replacements to ensure equipment reliability.
• Respond when it matters – attend breakdowns efficiently and effectively to minimise downtime and support site productivity.
• Maintain accurate records – complete service reports, documentation, and job records accurately and on time.
• Prioritise safety and quality – maintain a strong focus on safe work practices, quality workmanship, and customer satisfaction.
• Build strong partnerships – develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, site personnel, and key stakeholders.

What you’ll need:  

A successful teammate will have experience in: 

• Bring the right experience – hold a trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, or equivalent.
• Hit the ground running – Large / Ultra Class Mining Equipment experience is essential.
• Know the equipment – demonstrate proven experience working on heavy mining or earthmoving equipment.
• Solve problems efficiently – utilise strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills to identify and resolve equipment issues.
• Work autonomously – confidently manage tasks and priorities in a field service environment with minimal supervision.
• Commit to safety and quality – maintain high standards of workmanship while adhering to all safety requirements and procedures.
• Be site ready – hold a current Australian Driver's Licence and be willing to travel across multiple mine sites.
• Meet mining requirements – hold a current Standard 11 and Coal Board Medical, or be willing to obtain them.
• Stay equipped for success – a fully maintained field service vehicle is supplied so you have the tools and support needed to perform your role effectively.
• Enjoy a hassle-free roster – camp accommodation and meals are provided while on shift, allowing you to focus on the job.
