The FAST Workflow Analyst is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and distribution of live and linear content feeds for TEGNA to Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) platforms and other streaming partners. This role serves as a key point of contact between internal streaming and technology teams, local stations, FAST partners, vendors, and development teams to ensure feeds are available, reliable, correctly configured, and delivered according to established distribution requirements.
Responsibilities:
• Monitor and operate FAST distribution and 24/7 streaming workflows to ensure feeds remain available, content plays as scheduled, and streams are delivered reliably to FAST partners and digital platforms. Monitor stream health, content continuity, audio/video quality, slates, interruptions, and other issues that may impact the viewer experience. – 25%
• Troubleshoot, triage, and manage streaming and FAST distribution incidents from initial detection through resolution. Investigate issues across station, cloud, streaming, distribution, and partner environments; determine scope and impact; coordinate escalation; communicate status; and ensure incidents are resolved within established service expectations. – 25%
• Support FAST distribution operations and partner relationships, including onboarding new feeds, testing and validating feeds, coordinating configuration changes, troubleshooting partner delivery issues, supporting feed migrations, and working directly with FAST partners and vendors to resolve service-impacting issues. – 15%
• Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and operational tools across streaming and FAST distribution platforms to proactively identify failures and performance issues. Analyze monitoring data and recurring alerts to improve detection, reduce mean time to detect (MTTD), and reduce mean time to restore (MTTR). – 10%
• Partner with station engineering, digital, streaming, application, and infrastructure teams to support end-to-end workflows from content origination through streaming and FAST distribution. Assist with capacity planning, workflow changes, platform migrations, technology implementations, and projects that improve reliability and scalability. – 10%
• Document end-to-end streaming and FAST distribution workflows, including feed configurations, partner requirements, troubleshooting procedures, escalation paths, and operational runbooks. Maintain knowledge base articles and enable effective Service Desk escalation and self-service where appropriate. – 5%
• Maintain accurate inventories and operational information for streaming feeds, FAST channels, applications, services, integrations, configurations, and versions within the ServiceNow CMDB or other designated systems to support reporting, lifecycle management, troubleshooting, and incident response. – 5%
• Analyze incidents, operational trends, and partner feedback to identify recurring issues and opportunities for process, workflow, tooling, automation, or architecture improvements that increase reliability and improve the viewer and partner experience.
• Support special projects, major events, new technology implementations, and evolving streaming initiatives as assigned. Participate in testing and validation of new workflows and constructively challenge existing processes to improve reliability, efficiency, and scalability. – 2%
Requirements:
• College degree, relevant certifications, or equivalent practical experience in broadcast, media technology, or IT operations.
• Hands-on experience supporting broadcast, newsroom, and streaming technologies, such as Cuez, AWS media services, including AWS Elemental MediaConnect and MediaLive.
• Working knowledge of cloud and hybrid environments supporting media workflows (e.g., cloud-based contribution, streaming, monitoring, or playout).
• Strong understanding of IT service management concepts and tooling, including ITIL practices, incident/problem management, knowledge management, CMDBs, and ServiceNow.
• Proven ability to manage multiple operational priorities simultaneously, particularly in live production or time-sensitive environments.
• Clear communicator who can translate technical issues into business and operational impact for engineers, newsroom staff, digital teams, vendors, and leadership.
• Analytical, methodical problem solver with the ability to diagnose complex issues across systems, networks, applications, and workflows.
