The Environmental Services (EVS) Bed Control Liaison serves as a critical link between the Command Center and Environmental Services teams to ensure timely patient room turnover and bed availability. This role coordinates EVS staffing resources to prioritize discharged, critical care, STAT, and patient-assigned rooms, supporting efficient patient placement and hospital operations.
The position collaborates closely with Bed Control Specialists, Command Center personnel, nursing staff, and EVS leadership to monitor room status, reduce delays in the bed turnover process, and improve patient flow. The liaison also provides customer service support, assists with performance improvement initiatives, monitors quality and productivity standards, and helps ensure compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA requirements, and service excellence standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate EVS resources to support timely room turnover and patient bed placement.
- Collaborate with Command Center staff regarding admissions, transfers, and bed assignments.
- Monitor and prioritize STAT, ICU, and patient-assigned bed requests.
- Track room turnaround times and address delays proactively.
- Support EVS operations through staffing coordination, quality monitoring, and workflow management.
- Utilize Epic, Microsoft Word, and Excel for tracking, reporting, and data analysis.
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills, service recovery techniques, and AIDET communication practices.
- Participate in departmental and multidisciplinary performance improvement initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum three years of work experience required.
- Healthcare or hospitality experience preferred.
- Strong computer, telephone, multitasking, and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
