About This Opportunity
As an Equipment Operator at Rockford, you will be responsible for operating heavy machinery and equipment on construction sites to ensure safe and efficient operations. You will work closely with the project team to execute tasks related to the excavation, grading, and lifting of materials. This role requires a solid understanding of construction practices and the ability to work effectively on site to meet deadlines. This position reports to the Site Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, and backhoes for site preparation and material handling.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment to ensure safety and performance.
- Follow blueprints, plans, and specifications to ensure construction operations are completed correctly.
- Coordinate with team members and site supervisors to manage the flow of materials and equipment on site.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and best practices while operating machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment and report any issues promptly.
- Participate in training and development programs to enhance skills and safety practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education Requirements:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
Competency Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of equipment operation experience on construction sites.
- Valid driver’s license; a CDL is a plus.
- Strong understanding of construction practices and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret plans and blueprints.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor and operate equipment.
Bonus Skills and Experience:
- Certification in heavy equipment operation through a recognized program.
- First Aid and CPR Certification (safety training will be provided upon hire).

Environmental Factors
The work environment for this position may subject the individual to hazards commonly associated with construction including high temperatures, humidity, cold temperatures, and climbing stairs and ladders. Other examples of physical hazards include noise, proximity to moving vehicles, atmospheric conditions, close quarters, uneven surfaces, and elevated surfaces. The individual may also be subject to outside environmental conditions (weather) where protection may not be available. Lifting of 50 lbs, bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing will be necessary to perform the requirements of this position. Use of mobile equipment and power tools will be frequent. Personal protective equipment (PPE) including proper footwear, hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection (if applicable), high visibility vest and/or other special clothing shall be worn on construction sites at all times unless otherwise specified.
Varied amounts of travel and time away from home should be expected as a requirement of this position. Extended stays away from home may result depending on the location of the project in proximity to the individual’s home.
