Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Engineer Quality to join our team in Sunnyvale, CA.  This role supports production activities for marine propulsion and power generation equipment.  This is a 100% on-site role.

 

What you'll get to do:

• Assist in developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into semi-finished or finished product.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing under the guidance of senior staff to establish and uphold quality standards, including supporting MRB activities to address quality issues and maintain production flow.
• Support audits of quality systems, help identify deficiencies, and participate in implementing corrective actions that meet reliability standards and documentation requirements.
• Help revise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
• Review contracts, statements of work (SOWs), and drawings with oversight to evaluate, interpret, and apply company practices and applicable standards (e.g., ISO 9000, AS9102, MIL, IPC).
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action planning to identify and remove barriers to quality improvement.
• Interface with production floor personnel (inspection, assembly, operations) and communicate clearly with team members and stakeholders.
• Support definition and control of quality characteristics for products, processes, and services; assist in developing and validating control plans and updating work instructions.
• Help manage nonconformances across the facility, including supporting cross-functional containment activities to ensure product compliance.
• Interpret technical drawings and specifications, including GD&T, with guidance, to verify compliance with design requirements.
• Contribute to team collaboration activities, including brainstorming, problem-solving, and conflict resolution discussions.
• Apply basic Lean and Six Sigma quality engineering concepts, tools, and methodologies in support of production and continuous improvement initiatives.
• The ideal candidate must be able to communicate written and verbally in a team environment.

The ideal candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suit (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and communicate written and verbally in a team environment.

 

Basic Qualifications for the Engineer Quality:

• Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field with a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in Quality Assurance (e.g., investigating failures and identifying root causes) or in Manufacturing, Process, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering performing technical job functions; Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience performing Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCA), including investigating issues and implementing corrective actions.
• Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics to monitor performance or quality.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
• Experience applying data analytics and statistical analysis methods to evaluate product or process performance.
• Mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including inspection methodology and authoring work instructions.
• Experience with quality standards and engineering methodologies.
• Experience reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications (including GD&T).
• Green Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma.
• Experience using SAP in a manufacturing environment.
• Active Secret Clearance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 - $125,200.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
