Job Description

Location Woodchester, Gloucestershire (with travel to other UK sites and suppliers)
Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience

Renishaw is looking for an Electronics Quality Engineer . This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and continuous improvement of electronic components and printed circuit board assemblies used in our world-leading precision products.

Working across multiple functions including Manufacturing, Procurement, Design Engineering, and Supply Chain, you will help drive quality excellence throughout the product lifecycle, from supplier selection and product introduction through to ongoing production support and customer satisfaction.

This role combines technical problem solving, supplier development, and cross-functional collaboration, offering excellent exposure to both internal stakeholders and external suppliers in the UK and internationally.



Job Responsibilities

  • Investigate, analyse and resolve quality issues relating to purchased electronic components and PCBs.

  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to identify opportunities for improved process control, product quality, and cost reduction.

  • Partner with PCB Design Engineers to understand critical design features, manufacturing requirements, and quality expectations.

  • Support the identification, qualification, and development of new PCB suppliers alongside Procurement.

  • Collaborate with Procurement to support commodity strategies and mitigate risks relating to component obsolescence, end-of-life (EOL) products, and supply continuity.

  • Work with Goods-In Inspection teams to ensure robust inspection processes and effective management of incoming materials.

  • Generate ISIR reports and present findings from quality investigations, inspections, and supplier assessments.

  • Conduct supplier audits, assessments, and development visits to monitor performance and drive continuous improvement.

  • Lead or support strategic quality and business improvement projects.

  • Own and maintain departmental quality metrics, contributing to performance reporting and continuous improvement activities.

  • Promote best practice and share knowledge to support quality improvements across the wider business.

  • Continuously develop technical knowledge and professional skills to support evolving business needs.


Key requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

  • Proven experience as a Quality Engineer in an electronics manufacturing environment.

  • Strong understanding of electronic components, circuit design, PCB manufacturing, and assembly processes.

  • Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies (e.g., FMEA, 8D, SPC, Lean Six Sigma).

  • Experience with test equipment and methodologies for electronic product verification.

  • Awareness of commodity acceptance criteria IPC-A-600 (PCBs) & IPC-A-610 (PCBAs).

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.

  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality excellence.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel as required.

Desirable requirements

  • Experience of supplier quality engineering or supplier development activities.

  • Experience conducting supplier audits and assessments.

  • Knowledge of component lifecycle management, obsolescence planning, or supply chain risk mitigation.

  • Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent quality qualification.
