What You Will Do 

Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a discipline within P&W Engineering, responsible for control system architecture, safety and reliability, thermal management, dynamic analysis, software design and verification.

Within CDS, the Control System Engineering and Electrification (CSEE) is responsible for the end-to-end Control Systems Engineering and Electrical Propulsion Systems Engineering Value Stream.

Within CSEE, the Electrical Subsystems and Electrification (ES&E) group is responsible for sensors, electronics, power generation, wiring harness and ignition system as well as electric propulsion.

Electrical Subsystems Engineers draw on a broad range of Pratt & Whitney engineering disciplines—including Performance, Operability, Mechanical Systems, and Aerothermal Management—to develop, integrate, and certify subsystems and hardware for both Civil and Military customers. They support the full system lifecycle: advancing control-system technologies, interpreting and decomposing customer requirements, overseeing hardware implementation, ensuring compliance through engine, flight, and customer testing, and leading field‑issue triage and resolution.

As a Electrical Subsystems Engineer I, at Pratt & Whitney you will......

• Perform requirements analysis, validation, decomposition, and support requirements reviews for correctness, completeness, traceability, and consistency
• Support system and component modeling in Matlab/Simulink and Cameo
• Develop, update, and manage control-system requirements in DOORS and Cameo
• Coordinate with Software design team to ensure feasibility of required control and fault detection, accommodation and annunciation requirements
• Coordinate with supplier representatives to ensure feasibility of required hardware requirements
• Attend and support Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT) meetings
• Attend and support regular Agile meetings
• The candidate should be available for occasional travel (< 10%)
• The candidate is required to work on site, in East Hartford, CT.

What You Will Learn

• Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney. 

Qualifications You Must Have

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic, Robotics, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date. 
• Exposure to the systems engineering discipline
• Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic, Robotics, Computer Science.
• Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
