ELA Interventionist

Start Date: 2026–2027 School Year
Compensation Range: $54,000 – $60,813 annually (DOE)

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing K–8 public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a passionate, data-driven, and student-focused ELA Interventionist to provide targeted literacy support to scholars who need additional assistance developing their reading, writing, comprehension, and language skills.

The ELA Interventionist will work closely with classroom teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff to identify student needs, provide targeted intervention, monitor progress, and adjust instruction based on student data. The ideal candidate is committed to helping all scholars make meaningful academic growth while maintaining high expectations and creating a supportive, engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

ELA Intervention & Student Achievement

• Provide targeted, standards-aligned ELA intervention to students performing below grade-level expectations
• Deliver small-group and individualized instruction focused on reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, phonics, writing, and language skills as appropriate
• Use student assessment data to identify skill gaps and develop targeted intervention plans
• Implement evidence-based instructional strategies to accelerate student literacy growth
• Provide differentiated instruction based on individual student needs, skill levels, and learning goals
• Reinforce grade-level ELA standards and classroom instruction through targeted intervention
• Monitor student progress through formative assessments, progress-monitoring tools, and classroom data
• Adjust intervention strategies and instructional plans based on student performance
• Maintain accurate documentation of student intervention plans, progress, and outcomes
• Support students in developing confidence, independence, and positive attitudes toward reading and writing

Data Analysis & Progress Monitoring

• Regularly analyze assessment and progress-monitoring data to identify trends and areas of need
• Establish measurable academic goals for students receiving intervention services
• Track student growth and communicate progress with classroom teachers and instructional leaders
• Participate in data meetings and intervention planning sessions
• Use data to determine when students require additional, modified, or reduced intervention support
• Collaborate with teachers to ensure intervention strategies are aligned with classroom instruction
• Identify students who may benefit from additional academic or instructional supports

Classroom Culture & Student Support

• Establish a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment
• Build strong relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations
• Encourage student engagement, perseverance, and confidence in reading and writing
• Implement PBIS and preventative intervention strategies
• Provide an inclusive learning environment that supports students with diverse academic and linguistic needs
• Support students’ academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development
• Maintain a safe, organized, and academically focused intervention environment

Collaboration & Professional Growth

• Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, instructional leaders, special education staff, and other support personnel
• Participate in weekly professional development and professional learning communities
• Work with grade-level teams to coordinate intervention strategies and academic supports
• Share student progress, instructional strategies, and data with relevant staff
• Participate in MTSS/RTI processes and intervention planning as appropriate
• Continue developing knowledge of evidence-based literacy practices and intervention strategies
• Contribute to school-wide initiatives focused on literacy achievement and continuous improvement

Family Engagement

• Communicate with families regarding student academic progress and intervention goals
• Provide appropriate updates regarding student growth, areas of need, and strategies for continued support
• Collaborate with families to encourage reading and academic practice at home
• Participate in parent-teacher conferences and other family engagement opportunities as needed

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

• Valid teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education (NDE) with a K–8 endorsement
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, English Language Arts, Education, Reading, Literacy, or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to provide differentiated instruction and targeted academic intervention
• Strong understanding of reading comprehension, writing, vocabulary, and literacy development
• Ability to analyze student data and use it to guide instructional decisions
• Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with students and maintain a structured learning environment
• Commitment to serving Title I and multilingual learner communities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, instructional leaders, and support staff

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as an ELA, reading, literacy, or intervention teacher
• Experience providing small-group or individualized academic intervention
• Experience working with students performing below grade-level expectations
• Experience with MTSS/RTI or other multi-tiered intervention systems
• Experience working in Title I schools
• Experience supporting English Language Learners and multilingual students
• Knowledge of evidence-based literacy intervention strategies
• Experience using assessment and progress-monitoring data to drive instruction
• Strong communication, organization, and data-analysis skills
• Bilingual (Spanish-English) preferred
